> Banks deduct 2.5% only above Rs 503,529, but on today's silver price your own zakat can start at about Rs 332,325. Here is how to work out both, and how to file CZ-50.

**Zakat nisab 2026** in Pakistan has two different answers, and mixing them up is the most common mistake people make. The **bank deduction nisab** notified by the government for the 1446-47 AH Zakat year is **Rs 503,529**: any savings or profit-and-loss account holding that much or more on the first of Ramadan had 2.5% deducted at source. Your **personal nisab**, the one scholars use to decide whether you owe zakat on all your wealth, moves with the price of silver and gold every day. At the rates on 29 September 2026 it works out to **about Rs 332,325 on the silver measure** and **about Rs 3.23 million on the gold measure**.

This guide explains both figures, how to calculate yours, and what to do before the banks deduct again in Ramadan 1448 AH.

## The two nisab figures at a glance

| Measure | Basis | Amount | Date of figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank deduction nisab (Zakat and Ushr Ordinance) | Notified by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety | **Rs 503,529** | Notified 16 to 17 February 2026, for 1 Ramadan 1447 AH |
| Silver nisab | 52.5 tola of silver x Rs 6,330 per tola | **Rs 332,325** | 29 September 2026 |
| Gold nisab | 7.5 tola of 24k gold x Rs 431,090 per tola | **Rs 3,233,175** | 29 September 2026 |

The silver and gold figures change daily. Check today's rates on our [silver rate page](/data/silver-tola) and [24k gold rate page](/data/gold-24k-tola), or let the [zakat calculator](/tools/finance/zakat-calculator) do the arithmetic.

## 1. The bank deduction nisab: Rs 503,529

The Administrator General Zakat at the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety fixes this figure once a year, just before Ramadan. For the 1446-47 AH Zakat year the notification (No. CE-1001(36)/NISAB/1446-47/2026-48) set it at Rs 503,529, and the State Bank passed it to all banks, DFIs and microfinance banks through BPRD Circular Letter No. 3 of 17 February 2026.

How it works:

1. On the **first day of Ramadan**, which is a bank holiday for this purpose, banks check the balance of every savings account, profit-and-loss sharing account and similar deposit.
2. If the balance is **Rs 503,529 or more**, the bank deducts **2.5%** of the whole balance and deposits it in the Central Zakat Account at the State Bank.
3. If the balance is below the nisab, nothing is deducted.

**Example:** Rs 600,000 in a savings account on 1 Ramadan means a deduction of Rs 15,000. Rs 500,000 means no deduction at all, even though that is well above today's silver nisab.

The next figure will be notified shortly before Ramadan 1448 AH, expected in early February 2027, subject to moon sighting. We will update this page the day it is issued.

## 2. Your personal nisab: silver or gold

Outside the bank system, zakat is due when your total zakatable wealth has stayed at or above the nisab for one lunar year. The two classical measures are:

- **Silver:** 52.5 tola (612.36 grams)
- **Gold:** 7.5 tola (87.48 grams)

Most scholars and zakat bodies in Pakistan advise using the **silver** measure when your wealth is in cash, savings or mixed assets, because it is lower and so reaches more givers. The gold measure is generally used only when all your wealth is gold. If you follow a particular scholar or institution, use their ruling.

### Calculate it yourself

1. Look up today's silver price per tola on the [silver rate page](/data/silver-tola).
2. Multiply by 52.5. On 29 September 2026: Rs 6,330 x 52.5 = **Rs 332,325**.
3. For gold, multiply the 24k price per tola by 7.5. On 29 September 2026: Rs 431,090 x 7.5 = **Rs 3,233,175**.

Prices of both metals moved sharply this year. In February 2026, when the bank nisab was set, silver traded at about Rs 9,094 a tola and gold at about Rs 536,562, according to the Express Tribune. Both are lower now, which is why today's silver nisab is well below the bank figure.

## 3. How much zakat you owe

Add up everything zakatable on your zakat date:

- Cash at home and in all bank accounts, including current accounts
- Gold and silver jewellery and coins (at today's selling price; our [gold converter](/tools/finance/gold-converter) turns grams and tola into rupees)
- National Savings certificates, shares, mutual funds and prize bonds
- Business stock and money others owe you that you expect to recover

Subtract debts due now, such as this month's rent, bills and instalments. If what remains is at or above the nisab, zakat is **2.5%** of it.

**Worked example:** Rs 250,000 in savings, 3 tola of 22k jewellery and Rs 40,000 in cash, with Rs 30,000 of bills due. Using the [zakat calculator](/tools/finance/zakat-calculator), add the jewellery at the day's 22k rate, subtract the Rs 30,000, and compare the total to the silver nisab. If it is above Rs 332,325, pay 2.5% of the net total.

Zakat already deducted by your bank counts towards what you owe. Deduct it from your own calculation so you do not pay twice on the same money.

## 4. Stopping the bank deduction: the CZ-50 declaration

If your fiqh does not accept compulsory deduction at source, or you prefer to pay zakat yourself, you can file the **CZ-50 Zakat declaration** under the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance, 1980.

1. Get the CZ-50 format from your bank branch.
2. Complete it on stamp paper and have it attested as your bank requires (an original or a notarised copy; a plain photocopy is not accepted).
3. Submit it to every bank where you hold a savings or PLS account.
4. Do it **at least 30 days before** the expected first of Ramadan, according to Allied Bank's guidance. For Ramadan 1448 AH that means by early January 2027.

Keep the bank's receipt. The declaration is a legal statement, so fill it in truthfully.

## Common mistakes

- **Treating Rs 503,529 as the religious nisab.** It is only the bank's automatic trigger. You can owe zakat with far less in the bank.
- **Forgetting jewellery.** Household gold is the largest zakatable asset for many families.
- **Paying twice.** Subtract the bank's deduction from your own calculation.
- **Moving money out of savings just before Ramadan to avoid the deduction.** The bank will not deduct, but your zakat obligation on that money remains.
- **Filing CZ-50 late.** Banks need it well before the deduction date.
