# SNGPL duplicate bill: check and download online by consumer number (2026)

You do not need the paper bill. SNGPL puts every consumer's current bill online, and you can print it as a duplicate the same minute. All it asks for is your consumer number.

## Check your SNGPL bill online: the steps

1. Open the SNGPL consumer bill page at [sngpl.com.pk/login.jsp?mdids=85](https://www.sngpl.com.pk/login.jsp?mdids=85).
2. Type your **consumer number** in the box. It is the long number printed at the top of any previous SNGPL bill, next to your name and address.
3. Type the **captcha** characters shown in the image. Both fields are mandatory, and the captcha is the step most people get wrong: it is case sensitive and the image refreshes if you wait too long.
4. Press **Submit**.
5. Your current bill opens as a PDF. Use your browser's print or save button. That printed copy is the duplicate bill, and every bank, post office and franchise accepts it.

There is no charge, no login and no registration for this. If a site asks you to pay for an SNGPL duplicate bill, close it.

## Where to find your consumer number

The consumer number is not your meter number and not your CNIC. It appears on the top strip of every SNGPL bill.

If you have no old bill at all, you have three options:

- Ask a neighbour on the same street for their bill and call SNGPL on **1199** with your address. The helpline can look you up.
- Walk into the nearest SNGPL customer care centre with your CNIC and a document showing the address.
- If the connection is in a landlord's name, ask them. SNGPL ties the number to the connection, not to the occupant.

## Stop needing a duplicate: get the bill by SMS or email

SNGPL runs a free paperless billing registration at [sngpl.com.pk/registersms.jsp?mdids=88](https://www.sngpl.com.pk/registersms.jsp?mdids=88). You enter the consumer number, say whether you are the owner or a tenant, and give the owner's name, CNIC, CNIC issue date and mobile number. You then tick email, SMS or both.

Two things SNGPL asks you to do, in its own terms: add **noreply@sngpl.com.pk** to your safe sender list so the e-bill does not land in spam, and keep the email and number updated, because SNGPL says it is not responsible for a paperless bill that goes to a dead address or a full inbox.

## Reading the bill: what the four bill types mean

Most complaints about a "wrong" gas bill are really about which type of bill was issued. SNGPL uses four.

**Normal bill.** Issued on the actual meter reading, priced at the rates OGRA notifies. For RLNG-based domestic consumers, OGRA notifies a separate monthly RLNG tariff.

**Estimated (provisional) bill.** Issued when the meter reader could not take a reading. SNGPL's own list of reasons is worth knowing, because most of them are fixable by you: dirty or misty index glass, water inside the meter, meter covered with dust, meter covered with bushes, meter under rain water, meter installed above normal height, meter position not approachable, meter locked inside the premises, or premises not found. The estimate is based on the same month last year, or the last bill, or the trend for your category in your locality. It is adjusted in the next normal bill once a real reading is taken.

**Minimum bill.** Issued when consumption is nil or below the prescribed limit. For a standalone domestic meter the minimum charge is **Rs 172.58 a month**, and for mosques, churches, temples, madrassas and other religious places with attached hostels it is the same figure. Bulk-metered government offices, hospitals, universities, schools and charitable institutions pay **Rs 3,900 a month**. Commercial is **Rs 6,415**, roti tandoors **Rs 148.50**, general industry **Rs 36,449.70** and CNG **Rs 45,803.10**. All of these are before meter rent and GST.

**Sticky or stopped meter bill.** Issued when the meter is out of order. For domestic consumers it is based on seasonal average consumption, summer or winter. For industrial and commercial consumers it is the higher of the previous two months' or the following two months' average, under the Gas Sales Agreement.

If you got an estimated bill and your actual use was lower, do not pay in protest and wait. Clear the bushes, unlock the meter access, and the adjustment comes in the next cycle.

## What the gas actually costs

Domestic gas is slabbed, and which slab you sit in is decided before the meter is read. SNGPL's published domestic rates are:

| Up to 2.00 | | 1,900 |
| Up to 3.00 | | 3,300 |
| Up to 4.00 | | 3,800 |
| Above 4.00 | | 4,200 |

Fixed charges sit on top: **Rs 400 a month** for protected consumers, **Rs 1,000** for non-protected up to 1.5 HM3 and **Rs 2,000** above that.

Protected means a domestic consumer whose average consumption over the last four winter months is 0.9 HM3 or below. Everybody else is non-protected, and the jump is brutal: the same 0.9 HM3 that costs Rs 350 per MMBTU protected costs Rs 1,250 non-protected. Domestic consumers also get one preceding slab benefit, except above 4.0 HM3.

## Paying it

SNGPL accepts payment through internet banking, mobile banking, branchless banking apps including Easypaisa, JazzCash and U account, ATMs, NADRA kiosks, all scheduled banks and GPOs. You need the consumer number and the amount. Keep the transaction reference until the paid status shows on the next bill.

Take the complaint number. Without it, a follow-up call starts from zero.

## Four mistakes that cost people money

1. **Paying an estimated bill without reading it.** Check whether the bill says estimated or provisional before you pay a shock amount.
2. **Letting the meter get blocked.** Bushes, a locked gate and a dusty index glass are three of SNGPL's listed reasons for estimating, and an estimate in winter puts you in a higher slab.
3. **Assuming protected status.** It is decided on your last four winter months, not on this month. A single cold winter can push you out of it for the year.
4. **Paying at the last hour.** Late payment surcharge applies after the due date on the bill, and a bank transfer on the due date may post the next day.
