> Elon Musk says the Texas line will build more self-driving Cybercabs instead. The top Cyberbeast model costs $102,000, about Rs 28.2 million before import duties.

**Tesla will wind down production of the Cybertruck at its Texas factory next year**, Elon Musk said on Friday, 6 November 2026, to "make room" for building more of its self-driving **Cybercab** robotaxis, the BBC reported.

Musk did not say whether Tesla will stop making the pickup altogether or move it to another plant. But the project's lead engineer, Wes Morrill, wrote on X that the "Cybertruck was an incredible technology development platform and lives on through Cybercab", and when a fan lamented it being "discontinued next year", Musk replied "true", adding that "the Cybertruck fleet will be around for a long time."

## Cybertruck price in rupees

Today the top **Cyberbeast** model sells for **$102,000** in the US, about **Rs 28.2 million** at the interbank rate of Rs 276.67 to the dollar ([see today's dollar rate](/data/usd-pkr)). An earlier fully equipped version was priced at **$61,000**, the BBC reported, about Rs 16.9 million at today's rate. Those are US prices before shipping, customs duty and taxes: Tesla does not sell in Pakistan, and a used import would be taxed under the import schemes. ## Why the Cybertruck struggled

- **Launch gaffe.** At the 2019 unveiling, Musk's demonstration of the "unbreakable" armoured glass ended with the window shattering on stage.
- **Delays.** Tesla said it had 146,000 orders in 2019, but the truck did not reach buyers until 2023.
- **Sales.** Since launch, sales have been disappointing for a vehicle aimed at the lucrative US pickup market.
- **Recalls.** In 2025 Tesla recalled more than 46,000 Cybertrucks over a trim panel that could come loose.

The stainless-steel, angular design won diehard fans, some of whom compared it to something from Blade Runner, while critics called it ugly.

## What comes next: Cybercab

The Cybercab is Tesla's two-seat robotaxi with no steering wheel or pedals, built for its self-driving ride service. Shifting the Texas line to it signals where Musk sees Tesla's future: autonomous fleets rather than niche pickups.

## For readers in Pakistan

Cybertrucks seen on Pakistani roads are private imports, and their owners rely on Tesla's US-based support and parts. Musk's promise that the existing fleet "will be around for a long time" suggests parts and software updates will continue.
