> The PSX-listed maker of Colgate toothpaste and detergents signed the agreement on 28 October, a year after Procter & Gamble said it would stop making and selling directly in Pakistan.

**Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited** has signed an agreement to buy Procter & Gamble's land, manufacturing plant and related assets at **Port Qasim, Karachi**, the company told the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, Business Recorder reported.

"We are pleased to announce that the company has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited on October 28, 2026," the notice said.

## Key facts

- **Buyer:** Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited (PSX: COLG).
- **Seller:** Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited.
- **What:** land, a manufacturing facility and related assets at Port Qasim.
- **Price:** not disclosed in the notice.
- **Still needed:** approval from the **Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP)**.

The deal had been flagged in May, when P&G Pakistan announced plans to sell the Port Qasim site to Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan. Wednesday's signing turns that plan into a binding agreement, subject to the CCP.

## Why P&G is selling

P&G said last year it would stop running its own business in Pakistan as part of a global restructuring that includes cutting 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs and leaving some categories and markets. It is winding down manufacturing and commercial activity at P&G Pakistan and **Gillette Pakistan Ltd**, and moving to a model where a third-party distributor sells its brands here.

For shoppers, that means P&G brands are expected to stay on shelves through distributors, while the Karachi plant passes to a local competitor.

## About Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan

The company was set up in 1977 as National Detergents Limited and took its current name in 1990 after a participation agreement with Colgate-Palmolive Company of the US. It makes detergents, personal care products and related items for the Pakistani market.

Buying an existing plant comes as borrowing stays costly: the [SBP policy rate](/data/sbp-policy-rate) stands at 12% and the [one-year KIBOR](/data/kibor-1y) at 12.79%.
