A Bahrain cargo is unloading in Karachi. **Updated Sunday 25 October 2026, 6:55pm PKT: Iran says its border with Pakistan is open and it places no limits on LPG exports, and a 4,000-tonne LPG cargo has docked at Port Qasim.** **Iran's position:** Iran's ambassador in Islamabad, **Reza Amiri Moghadam**, denied reports that Iran had closed its borders, [Business Recorder reported](https://www.brecorder.com/news/40445863/iran-denies-border-closure-reports-says-trade-with-pakistan-). "Currently, there are no restrictions on the Iranian side on the export of Iranian goods to Pakistan, including LPG," he wrote on X. He blamed changes to Pakistan's **E-Form** import procedure for Iranian goods for leaving traders unable to send cargo, and said several hundred LPG trucks that crossed from Rimdan into Gabd have waited for weeks without being unloaded or cleared. Talks with Pakistani officials to fix the paperwork are under way, he said. Pakistan's commerce ministry has not commented on his remarks. **The sea route:** the tanker **Yellowstone**, carrying **4,000 tonnes of LPG from Bahrain**, berthed at Port Qasim at 8:42am on Saturday and unloading has started, the Port Qasim Authority said, [Business Recorder reported](https://www.brecorder.com/news/40445862/ship-carrying-4000-tonnes-of-lpg-docks-at-port-qasim). Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mir Naveed Jan Kalmati confirmed that trucks and other goods vehicles were again crossing in both directions. ## What reopened, and what did not change - **Trade traffic** at Gate 250, which links Gabd in Gwadar district with Rimdan in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, has resumed. - **Consignments with a consignment note dated 16 October or earlier** were cleared to cross. - Dawn's report did not say whether passenger movement has also resumed, so check with the Gwadar district administration before travelling. ## Why it was shut On **17 October** the Ministry of Commerce suspended trade at Gabd-Rimdan and at **Taftan**, withdrawing its 3 October trade order with immediate effect; no reason was given. On 22 October unidentified gunmen attacked the line of freight vehicles waiting near the closed crossing and set dozens of trucks on fire. Local authorities have since reviewed security and deployed extra forces to escort trade convoys. The report did not say whether Taftan has reopened. ## What it means for prices Kalmati said the restored supply chain should ease the **nationwide LPG shortage** and help with rising food and energy prices.
