**Updated Friday 2 October 2026, 7pm PKT: the preview.** **Pakistan vs India, Asian Games cricket final: Saturday 3 October 2026, 10am PKT**, Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. Rain should not be a problem this time: the forecast is sunny, with a rain chance of about **10%** through the day and a top of 25°C, ESPNcricinfo reported. Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka for bronze is at **5am PKT** the same morning.

**The numbers Pakistan are up against:** India lead the T20I head-to-head **14-3** and have won the last six. The two sides have never met in men's cricket at the Asian Games. India arrive on five straight wins after bowling Sri Lanka out for 45; Pakistan's last five read won, lost, won, won, won.

**Probable XIs** (ESPNcricinfo):

- **Pakistan:** Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Maaz Sadaqat, Usman Khan (wk), Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, Abdul Samad, Arafat Minhas, Ahmed Daniyal, Mohammad Wasim, Sufyan Moqim, Abrar Ahmed.
- **India:** Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Shreyas Iyer (captain), Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah. India may bring in Arshdeep Singh, who has not bowled a ball in the tournament.

**The player to watch for Pakistan:** captain **Sahibzada Farhan**, who made 57, 58 and 40 against India at last year's T20 Asia Cup and has hit nine sixes against them in T20Is, the most by any Pakistan batter. Pakistan are expected to keep their four-spinner attack on a pitch that turned in the semi-finals.

**Medal stakes:** win and it is Pakistan's first Asian Games gold in men's cricket; lose and silver is still their best result (they have only won bronze before). **Watch in Pakistan** on the Tamasha app ([how to stream it](/guides/telecom/tamasha-live-how-to-watch)); live score in our [match centre](/cricket-today). The hockey team plays South Korea for bronze at 12:30pm PKT the same day: [Pakistan at the Asian Games](/news/sports/asian-games-2026-schedule-pakistan-time).

**Updated Thursday 1 October 2026, 1:20pm PKT. It is Pakistan vs India in the Asian Games cricket final: Saturday 3 October 2026 at 10am PKT** at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. India thrashed Sri Lanka by **124 runs** in the second semi-final: India 169/7 in 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan 80 not out off 46 balls; Sri Lanka were bowled out for **45 in 9.5 overs**, their lowest total in a T20 international. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in the first over. Sri Lanka now play Bangladesh for bronze at 5am PKT on Saturday.

Pakistan are guaranteed silver, their best men's cricket result at the Asian Games (they have won only bronze before). India are the defending champions: they took gold in Hangzhou in 2023 when the final against Afghanistan was rained off. Weather is the risk again in Nisshin, where all four quarter-finals were washed out; if the final cannot be played, check the reserve-day and seeding rule announced on the day, as it decides who takes gold.

**Updated Thursday 1 October 2026, 8:15am PKT.** **Pakistan are in the Asian Games final.** They beat Bangladesh by **6 wickets** with 9 balls left in a rain-reduced 13-over semi-final in Nisshin: Bangladesh 111/7, Pakistan 112/4 in 11.3 overs. Sufyan Moqim took 3 for 26, and Abdul Samad (30 off 15) and Hasan Nawaz (27*) finished the chase with an unbeaten stand of 59. **Asian Games cricket final: Saturday 3 October 2026 at 10am PKT**, Pakistan vs the winner of **India vs Sri Lanka** (second semi-final, Thursday morning after rain delays). Pakistan's hockey semi-final against India is at 12:30pm PKT on Thursday, on the [Pakistan at the Asian Games](/news/sports/asian-games-2026-schedule-pakistan-time) page.

*Earlier, Wednesday 30 September, 7pm PKT:* the semi-final was set for Thursday 1 October at 5am PKT (9am in Nisshin), with a sunny forecast. Probable XIs then: **Pakistan:** Sahibzada Farhan (capt), Maaz Sadaqat, Saim Ayub, Usman Khan (wk), Hasan Nawaz, Abdul Samad, Arafat Minhas, Abrar Ahmed, Ali Raza, Mohammad Wasim, Sufyan Moqim. **Bangladesh:** Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Litton Das (capt, wk), Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Yasir Ali, Mahedi Hasan or Mosaddek Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Al Islam, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman.

*Earlier, Tuesday 29 September, 9:55am PKT:* **Bangladesh vs Malaysia was washed out without a toss** at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, the fourth Asian Games quarter-final in a row lost to rain. Bangladesh go through on their higher ICC T20I ranking and Malaysia are out. That settles the semi-finals: **Pakistan vs Bangladesh, Thursday 1 October 2026, 5am PKT (9am in Japan)**, and **India vs Sri Lanka at 10am PKT** the same day.

Bangladesh arrive without Najmul Hossain Shanto, who has been ruled out of the Games with a fever and an infection and is flying home to Dhaka, the ICC reported. **Watch in Pakistan:** Tamasha, the Jazz streaming app, holds the digital rights to the Games in Pakistan.

A Pakistan vs India final is possible on **Saturday 3 October at 10am PKT** if both win on Thursday. If both lose, they meet for bronze at 5am that day.

*Earlier, Tuesday 29 September, 6:50am PKT:* **Sri Lanka vs Nepal was washed out without a toss**, the third quarter-final in a row lost to rain. Sri Lanka went through on their higher ICC T20I ranking, ESPNcricinfo confirmed at 4:50am PKT, and Nepal, who beat Afghanistan in the group stage, are out.

*Earlier, Monday 28 September, 9:45am PKT:* India's quarter-final against Afghanistan was abandoned without a toss, 16 minutes before the start, because of persistent rain and a damp outfield. India went through on their higher ICC T20I ranking, the same rule that took Pakistan past Hong Kong earlier in the day. Afghanistan, the 2023 silver medallists, are out.

*Earlier, Monday 28 September, 7am PKT:* Pakistan's quarter-final against Hong Kong was **abandoned without a toss** after rain fell on Nisshin all day. Pakistan went through as the higher-ranked side, the rule for knockout washouts at these Games. It would have been the third T20I between the sides; Pakistan beat Hong Kong at the 2022 Asia Cup and the 2023 Asian Games.

*Earlier, Saturday 26 September:* rain decided the last day of the group stage. Nepal made 149 for 4 in 15 overs against Japan before the match was called off with no result, and Malaysia vs Oman was abandoned without a ball bowled. That left Nepal top of Group A and Malaysia top of Group B, with Afghanistan and Hong Kong second.

*Earlier, Friday 25 September:* Nepal beat Afghanistan by 5 wickets and Hong Kong beat Oman by 41 runs.

All matches are at Nisshin in Aichi. Japan is four hours ahead of Pakistan, so the 9am morning session is 5am here and the final's 1:30pm start is 9:30am.

## Before the semi-final: what we expected

Pakistan, captained by Sahibzada Farhan and coached by Mike Hesson, reach the last four having played no cricket at the Games. Their first match will be a semi-final, on a Nisshin pitch none of the 15-man squad has used, at 9am local time. The squad includes T20 internationals Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Haider Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr.

Bangladesh have also not played a ball at these Games: their quarter-final against Malaysia was rained off, so Thursday is the first match for both sides. Both have form against each other at the Asian Games: Bangladesh beat Pakistan for bronze in Hangzhou in 2023, and Pakistan's women beat Bangladesh for bronze here on 22 September. Bangladesh are without Shanto, who was ruled out with a fever. Weather is still the biggest factor: all four quarter-finals in Nisshin were abandoned, and if the semi-final is washed out too, the higher-ranked side goes through under the same rule.

**Draw:** semi-final 1 is the winner of quarter-final 1 (Pakistan) against the winner of quarter-final 4; semi-final 2 is quarter-final 2 against quarter-final 3. The two semi-final losers play for bronze on 3 October at 5am PKT.

## Can Pakistan play India?

Yes, but only in the final or the bronze play-off, both on Saturday 3 October. India, the defending champions, reached the last four when their quarter-final against Afghanistan, a repeat of the 2023 gold-medal match in Hangzhou, was washed out. In Hangzhou, too, rain ended that final and India took gold on seeding. Pakistan and India are in opposite halves of the draw. If both win their semi-finals, they meet in the **final on Saturday 3 October at 10am PKT**. If both lose in the semi-finals, they meet in the bronze play-off at 5am that day. At the 2023 Games, Bangladesh beat Pakistan for bronze.

## Group results

| Thu 24 Sep | Hong Kong v Malaysia (B) | **Malaysia won by 8 wickets** (HK 81/9; 84/2 in 12 overs) |
| Fri 25 Sep | Hong Kong v Oman (B) | **Hong Kong won by 41 runs** (121/8; Oman 80/6) |

| Sat 26 Sep | Malaysia v Oman (B) | **Abandoned** without a ball bowled |

**Final standings:** Group A: Nepal 3 points, Afghanistan 2, Japan 1 (out). Group B: Malaysia 3 points, Hong Kong 2, Oman 1 (out). Japan, the hosts, and Oman are eliminated.
