Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, bowling the hosts out for 110 and knocking off the runs in 18.1 overs. The result puts Sri Lanka into Saturday's tri-series final against Pakistan and ends England's hopes.

Pakistan had already booked their place in the final by winning their first three games, so the defeat cost them nothing in the table. It was still their worst batting display of the series, two days after Shadab Khan's unbeaten century rescued them against England.

## How Pakistan collapsed

Kusal Mendis won the toss and chose to bowl, and Sri Lanka's left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka did the rest. He finished with 5-34, the best figures of his ODI career, as Pakistan were dismissed inside 26 overs.

- Babar Azam top-scored with 29 off 33 balls.
- Hasan Nawaz made 17 and captain Shaheen Afridi struck two sixes in his 15.
- Arafat Minhas (10) was the only other batter to reach double figures.
- Fakhar Zaman, Saad Baig, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf all fell for single figures.

Sahan Arachchige took two wickets, and Asitha Fernando, Eshan Malinga and Dunith Wellalage one each.

## Kamindu Mendis finishes it fast

Needing 111, Sri Lanka lost Avishka Fernando for 16 and Kusal Mendis for 8, bowled by Arafat Minhas when the ball ricocheted off his bat onto the stumps. Shaheen took the other wicket. Kamindu Mendis then made 62 not out from 60 balls with eight fours and two sixes, and Pavan Rathnayake added 23 not out as Sri Lanka won with 31.5 overs to spare.

- **England:** out after three defeats in three. Their last league game against Sri Lanka on Thursday, 29 October, is now a dead rubber, the BBC reported.
- **Pakistan's batting:** only one batter passed 20, so the top order will be the talking point before Saturday.

England leave for Australia after Thursday's game for three ODIs and five T20Is from 13 November.
