Gold price in Pakistan today fell by **Rs 12,800 per tola** on Monday, 28 September 2026, taking 24-karat gold to **Rs 438,136 per tola**, according to rates issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

On Saturday the association had quoted Rs 450,936 per tola after a smaller Rs 2,100 fall, so the two-day slide is about Rs 14,900. Monday's drop alone is roughly 2.8%.

## Why gold fell today

The local price follows the international rate, converted at the dollar rate (around Rs 277 today, see [USD to PKR](/data/usd-pkr)). Globally, gold and silver sold off on Monday as bond yields rose, which makes metals that pay no interest less attractive. Oil jumped more than 4% after the US rejected Iran's proposal on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and added to pressure on bullion.

## What the drop means in rupees

- **Per gram (24K):** about Rs 37,563, based on the 10-gram rate.
- **A 5-tola jewellery set:** the gold content is about Rs 64,000 cheaper than on Saturday's closing rate, before making charges.
- **Zakat:** the gold nisab of 7.5 tola now works out to about Rs 3,286,020 at today's 24K rate, and the silver nisab of 52.5 tola to about Rs 345,345. ## Should you buy or sell now?

A one-day fall does not tell you where gold goes next. International prices are moving with oil, US bond yields and the US-Iran standoff, and all three are shifting daily this week. If you are buying for a wedding, compare the per-tola rate and the making charge across two or three shops, and ask for a receipt that states karat and weight. If you are selling, expect the jeweller to deduct for purity and wastage.
