The RLNG price for October 2026 is up by as much as **15.27%**. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) notified the new rates for re-gasified liquefied natural gas on 30 October, based on the cost of two Pakistan State Oil (PSO) cargoes, [Business Recorder reported](https://www.brecorder.com/news/40446709/ogra-raises-rlng-prices-by-up-to-1527-for-october-2026).

RLNG is the imported gas that runs much of Pakistan's power generation, export industry, fertiliser plants and a large share of CNG stations in Punjab. It is priced in dollars and reset every month, separate from the local gas prices that OGRA fixes for household connections.

## What it means in rupees

At the interbank rate of about Rs 276.75 to the dollar (see our [USD to PKR page](/data/usd-pkr)), the SNGPL distribution price works out to roughly **Rs 4,795 per MMBtu**, up from about Rs 4,206. On the SSGC network the distribution price is about **Rs 4,538**, up from about Rs 3,936. These are our conversions for illustration; consumers are billed by their gas company at the notified dollar price converted under OGRA's formula.

## Who pays more

- **Industry and captive power** on RLNG connections in Punjab and Sindh, which raises costs for textile and other exporters.
- **Power plants** running on RLNG, which feeds into the fuel cost adjustments that later show up on electricity bills.
- **CNG stations** that buy RLNG, which usually pass increases on at the pump.

## Why it matters now

The increase lands a day after a bill to let OGRA revise consumer gas prices every three months was tabled in the Senate, as we [reported on 30 October](/news/economy/gas-prices-every-three-months-ogra-amendment-bill-tabled-in-senate-with-no). OGRA's notice cites only the PSO cargo cost as the basis for October's prices and gives no other reason.
