HEC LAT registration for the fifth and final Law Admission Test of 2026 is open, and it closes on **20 October 2026**. The test itself is scheduled for **15 November 2026**, with roll number slips due on 6 November and results on 24 December, according to the schedule the Higher Education Commission (HEC) announced in March. If you want a seat in a five-year LLB programme starting in early 2027, this is the last LAT of the year.

The Education Testing Council (ETC), HEC's testing arm, lists "Apply for Law Admission Test (LAT)" on its portal with 20/10/2026 as the closing date. On 7 October that left 13 days to register.

HEC set these dates in its 2026 LAT calendar, which also covered the June and September sittings. The September test's result is due on 16 October, four days before this registration closes, so candidates who sat in September will know their score before they have to decide whether to retake.

## Who can register

- Anyone who has completed 12 years of education (HSSC, FA, FSc, A levels or equivalent).
- Students waiting for their intermediate results can register.
- Candidates who have taken LAT before may sit again to improve their score.

## How to apply for HEC LAT

1. Open the ETC portal at etc.hec.gov.pk and create an account with your CNIC or B-form number.
2. Choose "Apply for Law Admission Test (LAT)" and fill in your academic record.
3. Pick a test centre city. You cannot change it after you submit, and HEC may move candidates if fewer than 250 people choose a centre.
4. Upload a recent photo and pay the fee shown on the portal by the method it gives.
5. Download your roll number slip from 6 November and carry it with your original CNIC, passport or B-form on test day.

## What the test looks like

LAT is marked out of 100 and the pass mark is **50**. It has an essay and a personal statement, then multiple-choice questions on English, general knowledge, Islamic studies, Pakistan studies, Urdu and mathematics. A LAT pass is a requirement for admission to any LLB programme recognised by HEC and the Pakistan Bar Council, and law colleges set their own merit on top of it.

- Register before 20 October. Portals slow down on the last two days of every LAT window.
- If you sat the September test, wait for the 16 October result and register at once if you fell short of 50.
