## Latest: Mango Jutt is in cinemas, and Dawn Images gives it 3 out of 10 (updated Monday 19 October)

**Mango Jutt, the Punjabi action-comedy starring Faysal Quraishi and Hareem Farooq, opened in cinemas on Thursday 16 October in Pakistan, the UK, the US, the UAE, Canada and other countries**, [Arab News reported](https://www.arabnews.pk/pakistan/pakistans-hareem-farooq-eyes-breaking-punjabi-cinema-stereotypes-with-mango-jutt-3003977). It is one of the most searched films in Pakistan this week, and the first big review is harsh: Sara Danial of [Dawn Images](https://images.dawn.com/news/1196026) scored it **3/10**, saying the star cast cannot rescue a weak story.

### Mango Jutt at a glance

| | |
| --- | --- |
| **Released** | 16 October 2026, in cinemas |
| **Language** | Punjabi |
| **Cast** | Faysal Quraishi (Murad Jutt), Hareem Farooq (Noor Jehan), Ayesha Jahanzeb (Mariam), Aijaz Aslam, Shamoon Abbasi |
| **Producer** | Hareem Farooq (Hameem) |
| **Dawn Images review** | 3/10 |

### The story

Quraishi plays Murad, a police officer called to Lahore after his sister Mariam's husband dies. Mariam takes a job in Dubai and leaves her three children with him, and his boss sends him undercover as an ordinary man to catch a major criminal. He falls for Noor, the children's school principal and Mariam's friend, while the late husband's business partner plots to kidnap the children for ransom and take over the business.

### What the review says

Danial praises the two leads, their chemistry and screen presence, and calls the film an accessible crowd-pleaser for a mass audience. Her complaints are about the writing: a predictable plot, songs and a mela sequence that arrive at random, side stories that go nowhere, loose ends such as how the villain learns Murad is undercover, preachy dialogue near the end and patchy dubbing. Her verdict is that the cast and the romance needed a tighter script.

Farooq, who also produced it, told Arab News the film is meant for families and for audiences across South Asia and abroad, and that children should not feel apologetic about Punjab.

### Should you go?

If you liked the trailer's mix of action, comedy and songs and want a family outing in Punjabi, the leads are the reason to buy a ticket; if story matters most, wait for more reviews. Ticket prices vary by cinema and city, so check your local cinema's site before you go.

## Earlier: the trailer (16 September)

The trailer for **Mango Jutt**, the Punjabi-language action-comedy starring Faysal Quraishi and Hareem Farooq, was released on Wednesday 16 September. It is Farooq's first big-screen role since 2019's *Heer Maan Ja*, and her first Punjabi film. No release date had been announced at that point.

## What the trailer shows

The trailer leans into its Punjabi setting. Quraishi plays a strict, by-the-book police officer, and Farooq's character is the one who nicknames him "Mango Jutt".

Much of the footage is the two leads together, with their romance and banter carrying the story between fight scenes, stunts and song-and-dance numbers. Shamoon Abbasi appears as the villain.

The tone is openly masala: big action set pieces, comedy beats and a love track, pitched at audiences who grew up on Punjabi-language cinema in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and beyond.

## Who made it

- **Director:** Abu Aleeha, according to Dawn Images and PakistaniCinema.net. Express Tribune credits him as the writer.
- **Producer:** Hareem Farooq.
- **Lead cast:** Faysal Quraishi, Hareem Farooq, Shamoon Abbasi.

For Abu Aleeha, who has mostly worked on independent films, this is his first major mainstream film, PakistaniCinema.net noted when the teaser came out.

## A long road to the screen

Mango Jutt has been in the works for years. Filming wrapped some time ago, but the project was held up in development and post-production. The teaser surfaced in late May 2026 and ended with the line "Not just the mangoes, Jutt is coming too", which many read as a hint at a summer release. That window passed without a date.

The trailer was the clearest sign the film was close; the 16 October date followed weeks later.

## Where to watch the trailer

The trailer, titled "Mango Jutt | 2026 | Official Trailer", is on YouTube on the **HAMEEM** channel (@Hameem-Productions), the same channel that published the official teaser in May. Express Tribune also embedded a version shared on Instagram.

Search for the exact title and check the channel name before sharing. A number of reaction and re-upload channels are already using "Mango Jutt trailer" in their titles.
