> SNGPL will cut gas to DHA Lahore's Phase V, VI and VIII and nearby localities from 9pm on Thursday until 6am on Friday for maintenance at DHA Phase VII.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will suspend gas supply to parts of **Lahore** from **9:00pm on Thursday, 29 October, until 6:00am on Friday, 30 October**, for maintenance work at DHA Phase VII, according to a public notice from the company reported by ARY News.

## Areas affected

- All blocks of **DHA Phase V**
- All blocks of **DHA Phase VI**
- All blocks of **DHA Phase VIII**
- Other localities listed in SNGPL's notice around the work site

If you live near these phases and are not sure whether your street is included, the safest assumption is that pressure may drop overnight.

## What to do before 9pm

1. **Cook and boil water early.** Finish dinner and fill flasks before 9pm.
2. **Turn off every gas appliance at the knob,** including geysers and heaters, so nothing is left open when supply returns at 6am.
3. **Do not use compressors.** Running a gas compressor on a low-pressure line is dangerous and illegal.
4. **Air the house in the morning** before relighting a geyser or stove, and relight pilot flames one at a time.
5. **Plan breakfast.** Supply is due back at 6am, but pressure in the farthest blocks can take time to build.

Residents have been advised to make alternative arrangements for the night, the notice said.

## Why now

SNGPL schedules this kind of overnight work before winter demand peaks, when shutting a line for a few hours affects fewer households. Lahore's gas demand climbs sharply from November as geysers and heaters come on, and outages in December and January are usually from shortage rather than maintenance.

This is the second planned SNGPL shutdown in the north this month: Rawalpindi and parts of Islamabad also had overnight cuts in mid-October.

## Frequently asked questions

**When will gas be back in DHA Lahore?**

SNGPL says supply resumes at 6:00am on Friday, 30 October, after the overnight maintenance.
