> Look-alike portals are collecting CNIC, passport and fingerprint data from overseas Pakistanis. Here are the only official channels and five checks before you pay anyone.

NADRA has warned citizens, overseas Pakistanis in particular, against websites and portals that pose as the authority and offer CNIC, NICOP and other identity services. The warning, reported on 15 September, names look-alike platforms trading under labels such as **"NADRA Card Center"** and **"NADRA Online Card"**.

## What NADRA said

- Do not use websites or portals that claim to provide services on NADRA's behalf.
- Do not enter **personal information, passport details, fingerprints or payment details** on a site you have not verified.
- Use **only official NADRA platforms**.
- If you have already shared your data with such a site, **inform the cybercrime authorities immediately** and take steps to protect your information.

This is not the first warning. In November 2025 NADRA flagged a UK-hosted site, **Nadra.cardcentre.co.uk**, and filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). In May 2026 it said it has **no authorised consultants, agents or dealers** anywhere for identity documents or online applications.

## Why this matters to you

A fake portal does not only take a processing "fee". It collects exactly the data that criminals need to issue SIMs, open accounts or apply for loans in your name: CNIC number, passport scan, photo and fingerprints. Overseas Pakistanis are the main target because they search for NICOP renewal from abroad and are used to paying online.

## The official channels

| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Online CNIC and NICOP applications | **Pak Identity** portal and mobile app, linked from **nadra.gov.pk** |
| In person, Pakistan | NADRA Registration Centres (locator on nadra.gov.pk) |
| In person, abroad | NADRA desks at Pakistani embassies and consulates |
| Helpline, Pakistan | **1777** (24/7) |
| Helpline, overseas | **+92 51 111 786 100** (24/7) |

## Five checks before you pay anyone

1. **Look at the address bar.** Official NADRA services sit on **nadra.gov.pk** and its subdomains. Anything ending in .co.uk, .com, .pk.com or a similar variation is not NADRA.
2. **Never pay a "consultant".** NADRA says no third party is authorised to file applications for you.
3. **Do not search and click the first ad.** Type the address yourself or use the Pak Identity app from the official app store listing.
4. **Refuse to send fingerprints by WhatsApp or email.** Pak Identity captures them through its own app.
5. **Check your SIMs.** If you have shared your CNIC on a doubtful site, [check which SIMs are on your CNIC](/guides/telecom/how-to-check-sims-registered-on-your-cnic-668-sms-and-cnicsimspk) and block any you do not recognise.

## If you have already been caught

- Call the NADRA helpline and tell them what you shared.
- File a complaint with the NCCIA, the agency that now handles cybercrime.
- If you paid by card or bank transfer, call your bank at once and ask for the transaction to be disputed.
- Watch for new SIMs, loan messages or bank alerts in your name over the following weeks.

## Frequently asked questions

**What is NADRA's official helpline?**
