> An eight-member 59 Punjab Regiment team took silver among 140 teams from 36 countries, after golds in 2024 and 2025.

A Pakistan Army team from the 59 Punjab Regiment has won a silver medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026 in Wales, the fifth year in a row that Pakistan has come home with a medal from the British Army's patrolling competition, ProPakistani reported on 14 October.

The exercise ran from 2 to 13 October and drew 140 teams from 36 countries.

## The team and the medal run

Pakistan sent an eight-member patrol: one officer and seven soldiers, all from 59 Punjab Regiment. This year's silver extends a streak that now reads:

| Year | Pakistan's medal |
|---|---|
| 2022 | Silver |
| 2023 | Silver |
| 2024 | Gold |
| 2025 | Gold |
| 2026 | Silver |

## What Cambrian Patrol is

Cambrian Patrol is run by the British Army in the Cambrian Mountains of mid-Wales and is counted among the most demanding international military patrolling competitions. It tests a patrol's professional military skills and physical fitness over hard terrain. Medals are awarded against a standard rather than for first, second and third place, so more than one team can take gold or silver in the same year.

## Reception in London

After the competition, Pakistan's High Commissioner to the UK, Tipu Usman, hosted the team at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Wednesday. A High Commission statement said he congratulated the soldiers and heard about their experience on the course.

## Why it matters

For a regiment, a Cambrian Patrol medal is a prized result because it measures a small unit's training and fitness against professional armies from around the world. Pakistan's record of two golds and three silvers in five years places its teams among the most consistent foreign entrants.

For readers thinking about joining the forces, recruitment adverts set strict age limits: check where you stand with our [age calculator](/tools/government/age-calculator) before you apply.
