## Official set or imported set: what PTA tax means for you

- **Official (Mercantile) sets** are registered with PTA before sale. The price above is what you pay; the phone works on every network from day one.
- **Imported sets** (bought abroad, or a "non-PTA" phone sold locally) must be registered with PTA through its DIRBS system and the tax paid, or the phone stops working on Pakistani networks. The tax depends on the phone's value and on whether you register on a passport or a CNIC.
