> PTA's zonal offices tested networks from 8 to 14 October in Thatta, DG Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, Quetta, Faisalabad and Gilgit-Baltistan, and set deadlines for repairs. How to complain if your signal is bad.

The **Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)** has ordered mobile operators to fix faults in **network coverage, voice calls and internet service within set deadlines**, after a week of monitoring by its zonal offices from **8 to 14 October 2026**, [ProPakistani reported](https://propakistani.pk/2026/10/16/pta-orders-telcos-to-fix-network-issues/).

PTA said the checks were run through its **10 zonal offices**. The areas named are **Thatta, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, Quetta, Faisalabad and Gilgit-Baltistan**. In Faisalabad, a problem caused by a telecom site being shut down has already been resolved, PTA said.

PTA has not published the operator names, the deadlines or the number of faults found. It said it would keep working with operators, other departments and local administrations to improve service.

## If your signal is bad, here is what to do

PTA only takes up a complaint after the operator has had a chance to fix it, so the order matters:

1. **Complain to your operator first.** Call the helpline from your SIM (Jazz, Zong, Telenor and Ufone each have a short code) or use the operator's app. Note the **complaint number**.
2. **Give a precise location.** The street, area and nearest landmark, and whether the problem is indoors, outdoors or both. Mention the times it is worst.
3. **Wait for the operator's deadline.** If nothing changes, go to PTA.
4. **File on PTA's Complaint Management System** at [complaint.pta.gov.pk](https://complaint.pta.gov.pk/) with your operator complaint number. You can also use the PTA mobile app.

## Paying for a connection that does not work

Every recharge carries tax, so a weak signal costs more than it seems. Our [mobile load tax calculator](/tools/telecom/mobile-load-tax-calculator) shows how much of each top-up goes to tax. If you are thinking of switching networks, compare prepaid bundles on our [mobile packages comparison](/compare/mobile-packages), and check that the SIMs registered on your CNIC are all yours with our [668 guide](/guides/telecom/how-to-check-sims-registered-on-your-cnic-668-sms-and-cnicsimspk).

The same week, the National CERT and the NTC told users to switch off live location sharing when they do not need it ([our story](/news/technology/turn-off-live-location-sharing-when-you-dont-need-it-national-cert-and-ntc-warn)).

## Frequently asked questions

**How do I complain to PTA about poor mobile signal?**

First complain to your operator and keep the complaint number. If it is not fixed, file a complaint on PTA's Complaint Management System at complaint.pta.gov.pk with the operator complaint number and your location.
