> New filings show $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund and $76 million to America PAC. His spending this cycle has already passed what he spent on the 2024 election.

**Elon Musk** has given **more than $276 million** to Republican groups since July, making him the **biggest known donor of the 2026 US midterm elections**, [CNBC reported](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/12/elon-musk-republican-donations-2026-midterm-election.html) on Monday from newly disclosed spending. At the interbank dollar rate of [Rs 276.97](/data/usd-pkr), that is about **Rs 76 billion**.

## Where the money went

| Recipient | Amount | In rupees (approx.) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Senate Leadership Fund | $158 million | Rs 43.8 billion |
| America PAC (Musk's own group) | more than $76 million | Rs 21 billion |
| Total since July | more than $276 million | Rs 76.4 billion |
| Known federal giving, 2025-26 cycle | about $366 million | Rs 101 billion |

The **Senate Leadership Fund** is the main super PAC working to keep Republican control of the US Senate. **America PAC** is the group Musk set up in 2024.

## More than 2024, despite saying less

Musk spent roughly **$290 million** on the 2024 election, when he backed Donald Trump's return to the White House. Last year he said he planned to spend "a lot less" on politics; his 2025-26 total has already passed the 2024 figure with weeks still to go before the vote. [The Verge also reported](https://www.theverge.com/tech/1009604/elon-musk-2026-midterm-republican-donations) the new total.

## Why it matters outside America

The midterms decide control of Congress for the second half of Trump's term, which shapes US trade, tariff and visa policy, and so the dollar and the remittances many Pakistani families depend on.
