Monthly and per-kilometre fuel cost from your driving and mileage at today’s petrol or diesel price in Pakistan.

Version 1.0.0. Inputs: Distance per month, Mileage, Fuel, Price per litre.

## Worked example (default inputs)

- Distance per month: 1200 km
- Mileage: 12 km/l
- Fuel: petrol
- Price per litre: 267.5 PKR

**Monthly fuel cost: Rs 26,750**

1,200 km at 12 km/l uses about 100 litres, Rs 22 per kilometre, Rs 321,000 a year.

### Breakdown

- Litres per month: 100.0 l
- Cost per km: Rs 22
- Cost per 100 km: Rs 2,229
- Annual fuel cost: Rs 321,000

### If mileage improved by 2 km/l

- You would save per month: Rs 3,821

## How it is calculated

Litres used = distance ÷ mileage. Monthly cost = litres × price per litre. Cost per km = price ÷ mileage.

Real-world mileage is usually 15–25% worse than the manufacturer's figure in Pakistani city traffic with AC on; use the figure from your own fill-ups (km driven between fills ÷ litres filled) for accuracy.

## Frequently asked questions

**How do I measure my car's real mileage?**

Fill the tank, note the odometer, drive normally, fill again and divide the km driven by the litres it took.

**Does AC reduce mileage?**

Yes, typically 10–20% in city driving. Highway driving with AC costs less because the engine is already under steady load.

**Is diesel cheaper to run?**

Diesel engines are more efficient per litre, but the fuel is now priced slightly above petrol; the advantage is mostly in torque and highway economy.
