Who qualifies

Professor: PhD in Education from an HEC-recognised university, 15 years of teaching, research or relevant professional experience or 10 years post-PhD, plus 15 research publications with at least 5 in the last 5 years in HEC-recognised journals.

Associate Professor: PhD in Education, 10 years of teaching or research experience or 5 years post-PhD, plus 10 publications with at least 4 in the last 5 years.

Assistant Professor: PhD in Education. No experience or publications required, which makes this the realistic entry point for a fresh PhD.

Lecturer: BS or Master's (16 years of education) in the relevant specialisation and a First Class MS, MPhil or equivalent (18 years of education) in the relevant field from an HEC-recognised university, with no third division anywhere in your academic career.

HEC eligibility criteria apply throughout. No age limit is stated.

Pay and pension

BS-18 to BS-21. All fresh recruitment at IER falls under the Punjab Defined Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025. Existing BPS employees who apply through proper channel stay on the old BPS pension rules. If you are already in government service, that distinction is worth reading before you apply.

Applicants for Professor and Associate Professor must include a USB with soft copies of their publications. Applications by hand are not accepted.
