SECP registered 5,241 new companies in September: IT leads with 920, total reaches 317,002
Nearly every new company was registered online, Punjab led the provinces and China supplied most foreign investors. The full breakdown by sector, province and type.
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 5,241 new companies in September 2026, taking the number of registered companies in the country to 317,002, Business Recorder reported on Friday. Almost all of them, 99.9%, were registered online through the SECP's eZfile portal and the linked federal and provincial systems.
IT tops the list of new companies
Information technology led the month with 920 new companies, ahead of trading (808) and services (599). The rest of the top ten:

Punjab and Islamabad lead, by province
Punjab accounted for 2,740 registrations (52.3%), followed by Islamabad Capital Territory with 1,009 (19.2%), Sindh with 790 (15.1%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 428 (8.2%), Gilgit-Baltistan with 169 (3.2%) and Balochistan with 105 (2.0%).
By type, 3,013 were private limited companies (57.5%) and 2,058 were single member companies (39.2%), the form that lets one person own a company on their own. There were also 127 limited liability partnerships, 29 not-for-profit (Section 42) companies, 10 public companies, two trade organisations and two foreign companies.
Foreign investors: China far ahead
The new companies brought in 167 foreign investors, 10 of them companies and the rest individuals. China supplied 113, far ahead of the United States (7), the United Kingdom (6), Hong Kong (5), Singapore and Saudi Arabia (3 each).
Women remain a small minority: they make up 14% of shareholders and directors of the new companies, 11% of ultimate beneficial owners and 8% of chief executives.
