PESCO shutdown schedule: planned power cuts for maintenance from 16 October to 31 March
Peshawar Electric Supply Company has approved a six-month maintenance shutdown plan for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Fridays and Sundays to be avoided where possible.
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved a six-month shutdown schedule for maintenance and development work on its network, running from 16 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, according to a PESCO notification reported by ARY News.
The work is meant to make supply more reliable before next summer's peak demand. PESCO supplies electricity across most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so the plan affects consumers well beyond Peshawar city.
The rules in the notification
- Fridays and Sundays: officials are told to avoid planned shutdowns on these days unless the work cannot wait.
- No changes to the approved plan: routine additions or changes to the schedule are not allowed. An extra shutdown in an emergency needs a written request.
- Combined work: departments are told to group maintenance jobs on the same line so that each area goes off once rather than several times.
- Advance notice: industrial and other key consumers, hospitals, schools and colleges, and local community leaders must be told before a planned cut.
- Safety: all safety measures must be followed to protect line staff and the public.
The notification as reported does not list the feeders, grid stations or hours for each day. PESCO normally announces daily shutdowns, with the feeder names and times, on its official social media pages the day before.
How to plan around a cut
- Find your feeder name: it is printed on your electricity bill. Our PESCO bill check guide shows where the reference number and feeder details are.
- Check PESCO's daily shutdown notice for that feeder the evening before.
- If you run a UPS or a solar battery, our battery backup calculator tells you how many hours your battery will last on your load.
- For an unannounced outage, call PESCO's 118 helpline with your reference number.
Not the same as load shedding
These are maintenance shutdowns, separate from the load shedding that PESCO carries out on high-loss feeders. Planned maintenance cuts usually last a few hours in daytime and are announced in advance; load shedding follows a feeder's loss category.
Searchable will update this page if PESCO publishes the feeder-wise schedule.
