Green Tractor Scheme: Rs 750,000 subsidy on 10,000 tractors drawn, Phase V open

Punjab has opened the next round of the Green Tractor Scheme: 10,000 tractors of 50 to 65 horsepower with a subsidy of Rs 750,000 each went to digital balloting this week, and applications are now open for a fifth phase of 9,500 bigger tractors (75 to 125 HP) carrying a subsidy of Rs 1 million each.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz pressed the button on the Phase IV draw on 23 September. The first name out was Masood Khan, son of Lal Khan, from Attock.

Green Tractor Scheme 2026 in numbers

• Budget for this fiscal year: Rs 17.6 billion for 19,500 tractors.
• Tractors already handed over in earlier phases: 24,000.
• Applications received: 213,637. Declared eligible after checks by the Punjab Land Records Authority and NADRA: 128,757.

What your chances look like

With 128,757 verified applicants for 10,000 Phase IV tractors, roughly one eligible farmer in 13 will be drawn. Quotas are fixed district by district according to each district's share of cultivated land, so farmers in Bhakkar, Jhang, Lodhran and Vehari, which received larger shares, have better odds than the provincial average.

Who can apply for Phase V

• You must own at least five acres of agricultural land in Punjab. Ownership is checked against the Punjab Land Records Authority (fard) record, and your CNIC against NADRA.
• Phase V is for the heavier 75 to 125 HP class. If you need a 50 to 65 HP tractor, Phase IV is the round for that class, and it has now been drawn.
• Apply only through the Punjab government's official portal and the Agriculture Department. Several look-alike websites use the scheme's name; none of them can put you in the draw, and you should never pay anyone to "register" you.

Five locally manufactured models are part of the scheme. For the first time a 90 HP tractor is being manufactured in Punjab and a 100 HP model assembled in the province, which matters for Phase V buyers because spare parts and service for local models are easier to find in tehsil markets.

What it means for running costs

The subsidy lowers the purchase price, but diesel is the bigger bill over a tractor's life. What to do now

1. If you applied for Phase IV, watch for the official SMS from the Agriculture Department and do not act on calls asking for a fee to "confirm" your win.
2. If you own five acres or more and want a 75 to 125 HP tractor, apply for Phase V on the official portal with your CNIC and land details.
3. Keep your fard up to date; applications that fail the land record check are rejected.
