Why it matters for 5G in Pakistan
Jazz has switched on 5G in 10 cities on more than 1,000 sites (our 5G guide), but most phones in use in Pakistan are 4G only, and a new 5G phone with the PTA tax is out of reach for many buyers. Paying in instalments, or trading in an old phone, is how operators elsewhere moved customers onto 5G handsets. The catch is the total you pay: an instalment plan usually costs more than the cash price, so compare the full amount with the official price before signing up.
Kazim Mujtaba, president of Jazz GSM, said making AI accessible starts with the smartphone in people's hands. Ryan Na, managing director of Samsung Electronics Pakistan, said the deal combines Samsung's phones with Jazz's network, shops and customer reach.
Before you buy a phone on instalments
- Check the cash price of the same model on our mobile prices page and multiply the instalment by the number of months.
- Make sure the phone is PTA approved; an imported set needs PTA tax, which our PTA mobile tax calculator works out.
- Ask what happens if you miss a payment and whether the phone is locked to Jazz.
- A 5G phone only gets 5G where Jazz has 5G sites; check your area first.
We will add the instalment terms when Jazz publishes them.
