Honda HR-V hybrid down Rs 1.07m, Corolla Cross HEV down Rs 570,000 after tax cut

Two of the most popular crossovers in Pakistan are cheaper this week. Honda Atlas has cut the HR-V e:HEV hybrid by Rs 1,070,000 to Rs 9,299,000, and Indus Motor has cut the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV X by Rs 570,000 to Rs 9,729,000. The trigger is the federal decision to bring general sales tax on locally assembled cars and hybrids up to 2,000cc down to 18% from 25%, effective 13 September 2026.

The new prices

Honda's revised prices apply to orders invoiced on or after 25 September 2026. Honda calls it a limited-time offer on limited stock and has not given an end date, so confirm stock and the final payable amount with your dealer before you pay a booking amount. Toyota's cut is applied from the 13 September tax date.

Why the prices moved

A car's ex-factory price includes sales tax. Moving from 25% to 18% takes about 5.6% off a price that was fully taxed at 25%, and that is almost exactly what Toyota passed on: 5.5% on the HEV X and 5.6% on the HEV.

Honda went further on the hybrid. The HR-V e:HEV is down 10.3%, nearly twice what the tax change alone would explain, which is why Honda frames it as a time-bound offer rather than a new list price. The petrol HR-V VTi-S is down 6.4%.

The old Automotive Industry Development Policy 2021-26, which gave electric vehicles a reduced 8.5% sales tax, expired on 30 June. A new auto policy has not been announced yet, so further changes to tax on hybrids and EVs are still possible.

Same money, two hybrids

After the cuts, the Honda HR-V e:HEV and the standard Toyota Corolla Cross HEV now carry the same price: Rs 9,299,000. For buyers who were choosing between the two, price is no longer the tiebreaker; fuel economy, features, resale value and dealer waiting time are.

Not every maker is cutting. MG announced that its ZS hybrid goes up by Rs 400,000 on 1 October despite the lower tax, as we reported in our earlier story on the hybrid tax cut.

What it means for you

• If you have already booked at the old price and not been invoiced, ask your dealer in writing whether the new price applies to your invoice. Honda ties its new price to the invoice date, not the booking date.
