Islamabad driving licence now delivered home by TCS: one office visit, 3-day processing
The Islamabad Traffic Police will courier new licences to your door, a week after it cut the wait from two weeks to three days and scrapped the urgent fee.
Islamabad residents no longer have to go back to a traffic police office to collect a new driving licence. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a home delivery service with courier company TCS: once a licence is printed, it is sent to the address the applicant gives, ProPakistani reported on Sunday 18 October, citing an ITP announcement.
The delivery service rounds off a set of changes the ITP made on 10 October, which cut the wait for a regular licence from two weeks to three days and scrapped the separate urgent fee.
Driving licence home delivery in Islamabad: what changes
| Step | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Processing time, regular licence | About two weeks | Three days |
| Urgent fee | Charged for faster service | Abolished |
| Collecting the licence | In person at an ITP office | Delivered home by TCS |
| Renewal or duplicate | Urgent fee for quick service | Within an hour at the regular fee |
The 10 October changes were ordered by Islamabad Inspector General of Police Mohammad Sohail Chaudhry, ProPakistani reported at the time. With the urgent category gone, every new licence follows one process.
How it works
- Visit an ITP licensing office once. You still have to go in person for the medical and physical tests and to have your photograph taken.
- Fill in the courier address form at the office with the address where you want the licence sent.
- Wait for TCS. The licence is dispatched to that address once it is ready. When the changes were announced on 10 October, Bloom Pakistan reported that licences would reach applicants within two to three days at no extra cost. The 18 October announcement, as reported by ProPakistani, did not mention a delivery charge or a time frame, so check at the counter.
Renewals and duplicate licences are quicker still: at an ITP office or a police facilitation centre they are issued within an hour on payment of the regular fee.
Why it matters
Getting a licence in the capital used to mean at least two trips to an ITP office, and many applicants paid the urgent fee simply to avoid a two-week wait. For a working applicant in Bahria Town, G-13 or Bhara Kahu, cutting out the second trip saves half a day of leave and the fuel to get there.
The ITP has not published a separate helpline for the delivery service. For the current licence fees in Islamabad and the provinces, see our guide to driving licence fees in Pakistan, and to confirm a licence once it arrives, our guide to checking a driving licence online.

- How long does a regular driving licence take in Islamabad?
- Three days, down from about two weeks, under changes the Islamabad Traffic Police made on 10 October 2026. The separate urgent fee was abolished.
