Pak Hajj App adds room change, refunds and medical certificate for Hajj 2027

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has added six self-service options to the Pak Hajj App for Hajj 2027, so pilgrims can change their room, switch package length, get a medical fitness certificate and even cancel for a refund without visiting a Hajj office. The update lands just before the government scheme's second instalment falls due in the first week of October.

The six new features

1. Change your accommodation. Choose a two-bed, three-bed, family room or shared room from the app.
2. Switch package length. Move between the long package and the short Hajj package.
3. Medical fitness certificate. Print the certificate from the app, have it verified by a doctor, then upload the verified copy. No trip to a Hajj directorate for this step.
4. Mahram or helper under the hardship quota. Pilgrims selected under the hardship quota can apply for a companion or helper through the app.
5. Cancel and request a refund. Applications can be cancelled, with a refund in cases of genuine hardship.
6. Manage it from home. All of the above sit inside the same app used for booking and payment, so most stages no longer need an in-person visit.

What Hajj 2027 costs

The government scheme has 107,526 seats plus 30,000 for the Short Hajj Scheme. Pilgrims paid 50% of their package as the first instalment from 17 August; the second instalment is due in the first week of October. Payment is through 1Link PSID, a debit or credit card, or a digital challan from the app payable at HBL branches.

Private scheme: seats still open

The private scheme has 71,684 seats through 25 approved Hajj organisers, booked through the same app and the Hajj portal. About 26,000 bookings have been completed and roughly 45,000 seats remain, according to the ministry's latest figures.

Warning on payments

The ministry says private Hajj bookings or payments made outside the official Hajj portal are not permitted. Do not pay an agent's personal account, a WhatsApp link or any site other than the official portal and app. If an operator asks for cash outside the system, report it to the ministry.

What to do now

• Update the app from the Play Store or App Store before you try the new options.
• Pay the second instalment on time in the first week of October if you are on the government scheme; keep the PSID receipt.
• Get the medical certificate done early so a doctor's signature is not what holds up your file.
• Hardship cases: if you need to cancel, use the in-app request and keep screenshots of each step.
