FBR to auction 32-kanal Bahria Golf City house on 6 October over Rs 26.4bn dues

The Federal Board of Revenue will auction a 32-kanal property in Bahria Golf City, Rawalpindi, on 6 October 2026 to recover tax dues of about Rs 26.4 billion. It is the latest in a string of Bahria-linked properties the tax authority has put under the hammer over the past year and a half.

The reserve price has not been reported. The recovery is a tax proceeding by the FBR and is separate from the National Accountability Bureau's cases against Bahria Town.

How we got here

The dues date back to the tax years 2020 and 2022, according to Profit's reporting on the earlier auctions, and they grew out of a dispute over how property developers book income. In March 2025 the Supreme Court ruled in Emaar DHA Islamabad v. CIR that developers must use the accrual method, recognising income when a sale is made, rather than spreading it over the life of a project. That pulled large amounts of income forward and turned them into immediate tax liabilities.

What it means for residents and buyers

• Bahria Golf City residents: the auction covers one specific plot. It does not by itself affect other allottees' titles.
