Coventry's first Premier League win in 25 years, Brighton put three past Arsenal

Frank Lampard's Coventry City beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Sunday for their first Premier League win in 25 years, and Brighton handed Arsenal their heaviest defeat in any competition since April 2023.

Jay Dasilva scored in the 55th minute. It is Coventry's first top-flight league win since April 2001, against Sunderland, in the season they were relegated. They came up through the Championship and their opening fixtures were brutal: away at Arsenal and Manchester City, and a 5-0 home defeat by Brighton.

Brighton 3-0 Arsenal

Played at the Amex on Saturday. Pascal Gross opened on 31 minutes, Charalampos Kostoulas made it two on the stroke of half time, and Chema Andres finished it on 60.

"Brighton deserved to win the game," Mikel Arteta said afterwards. "We didn't do the basics right for long periods."

It was Arsenal's heaviest loss in any competition in more than three years. Brighton have now scored 16 goals in five league games.

Tottenham still without a win

Tottenham lost 3-2 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday and remain winless. They go into the international break in the bottom three.

Elsewhere

In Serie A, Lautaro Martinez scored twice as Inter came from behind to draw 2-2 with Roma. In Turkey, Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick in Trabzonspor's 4-0 win over Galatasaray, which we covered here.
