Paris Masters 2026: Alcaraz into quarter-finals as Berrettini withdraws; Hijikata ends Djokovic's Turin hopes
Alcaraz, 39-5 this season, faces Arthur Fils or Taylor Fritz next. World No 83 Rinky Hijikata beat Djokovic for the first time, leaving two ATP Finals places open.

Carlos Alcaraz is into the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after Matteo Berrettini withdrew from their third-round match on Thursday 5 November 2026, the ATP Tour reported. A day earlier, world No 83 Rinky Hijikata knocked out Novak Djokovic, ending the Serbian's hopes of reaching the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin.
Alcaraz: next up Fils or Fritz
- Record: 39-5 for 2026, on a six-match winning streak after taking the Vienna title last week, his fourth of the year.
- Next: home favourite Arthur Fils (seeded 7) or Taylor Fritz (seeded 11).
- Head-to-head: Alcaraz leads Fils 3-0 and has won six of seven against Fritz.
- The target: a first Paris semi-final in six appearances, and a fifth title of the season.
Alcaraz, the second seed, beat Alex Michelsen in his opening match on Wednesday.
Djokovic out
Hijikata, an Australian, beat Djokovic for the first time in three meetings, in two hours and 13 minutes, closing it with his 29th forehand winner. He saved all three break points he faced in the final set and became the lowest-ranked player to beat Djokovic this year. "I should've won this match. I played well in the first set and then completely lost control," Djokovic said, the ATP reported. He needed a semi-final in Paris to stay in the race for Turin.
The race to Turin
Two places at the ATP Finals are still open. Fils qualified on Wednesday, joining Alcaraz. Fritz (11th in the race) must beat both Fils and Alcaraz to reach the semi-finals and keep his hopes alive; Tommy Paul (13th) booked a quarter-final place and is also still in contention. Zverev, the new world No 1, lost his opening match to Lorenzo Musetti (our report).
Watching in Pakistan
Paris is four hours behind Pakistan in November, so an evening session in Paris starting at 7pm is 11pm PKT. Matches stream on Tennis TV.
