PSX timings 2026: trading hours today, Friday sessions and holiday list

PSX timings in 2026: the Pakistan Stock Exchange's regular market opens at 9:32am and closes at 3:30pm Pakistan time, Monday to Thursday, after a pre-open session from 9:15am. Friday is different: trading runs in two sessions, 9:17am to 12:00pm and 2:32pm to 4:30pm, with a break for Jumma prayers. All times below are PKT (UTC+5) and come from the trading hours and holiday pages on the PSX website, checked on 29 September 2026.

PSX timings today: Monday to Thursday

Orders placed during the pre-open session cannot be cancelled, modified or suspended until the matching break ends, so check price and quantity before you submit at 9:15am.

PSX timing on Friday

On Friday the exchange splits the day around Jumma prayers.

So the PSX closing time is 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 4:30pm on Friday.

Other PSX markets

• Negotiated Deals Market (NDM): 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday; on Friday 9:15am to 3:00pm and 3:01pm to 5:00pm.
• Bills and bonds (corporate debt, government debt, Ijarah Sukuk): 9:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday.
• Odd lots (ETFs only): 9:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday.
• Square-up market (regular and futures): 9:30am to 2:30pm, then pre-open 2:30pm to 3:00pm and open-close at 3:00pm, Monday to Thursday.
• PUCARS (the settlement system brokers use): 8:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 4:30pm on Friday.

PSX Ramadan timings

The exchange shortens the day in Ramadan and announces the timings by notice each year. For Ramadan 2026 the notice of 19 February set pre-open at 9:00am, market open at 9:17am and close at 1:30pm Monday to Thursday, and close at 12:30pm on Friday, as reported at the time. Expect a fresh notice before Ramadan 2027, and check it on the PSX site rather than assuming the same hours.

The two holidays left in 2026 are Allama Iqbal Day on 9 November and Quaid-e-Azam Day on 25 December. The PSX lists 17 holiday days in all and says it may change dates if needed. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are always closed.

How to trade within PSX timings

1. Open an account with a PSX broker. You need a CNIC and a bank account. Many brokers now offer online account opening, and the PSX's Sahulat account is a simpler option for small investors.
2. Fund the account before 9:15am if you want your order in the pre-open auction.
3. Place orders in the pre-open window (9:15am to 9:30am) if you want the opening price, or during the regular session from 9:32am.
4. Mind the Friday break. Trading stops at 12:00pm and resumes with a pre-open at 2:15pm, so plan Friday orders around the gap.
5. Check the closing price after 3:30pm (4:30pm on Friday). The post-close session lets you trade at the closing price for 15 minutes.

Common mistakes

• Trading on a moon-dependent holiday. Eid and Ashura dates can move by a day; wait for the PSX notice.
• Using old Ramadan hours. They change each year.
• Forgetting the pre-open lock. A pre-open order cannot be pulled until matching ends at 9:32am (9:17am on Friday).
• Confusing settlement with trading. Shares bought today settle later through the clearing system, so cash and shares do not move the moment the market closes.
