Sindh vehicle token tax online: pay by PSID with JazzCash, Easypaisa or bank app
Pay your car or bike's token tax in Sindh from your phone: the quick-pay steps on the Excise portal, the 24-hour PSID, every payment channel and the receipt that replaces the book stamp.

You can pay your car or motorcycle's token tax in Sindh online in about five minutes, without visiting the Excise office in Karachi, Hyderabad or anywhere else. The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department runs a tax portal at taxportal.excise.gos.pk that works out what you owe, gives you a 12-digit PSID, and lets you pay it through your bank app, an ATM, JazzCash, Easypaisa or a bank counter.
This guide covers the quick-pay route (no account needed), the full portal, how to pay the PSID, how to prove you paid, and what to do when the numbers look wrong.
What you need before you start
- Your registration number exactly as it appears on the number plate, in the format ABC-123.
- Whether it is a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler.
- A mobile number in the format 03XXXXXXXXX.
- A way to pay: a bank app, an ATM card, a JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet, or cash at a bank branch.
You do not need the registration book or smart card in hand for quick pay, but keep it nearby to check that the vehicle details the portal shows match yours.
Step by step: quick pay without an account
- Open taxportal.excise.gos.pk/home/quick_pay.
- Choose the vehicle type: 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler.
- Enter your mobile number and the registration number (ABC-123 format), then solve the CAPTCHA.
- Check the vehicle details and the amount the portal calculates. It includes any tax that is outstanding for earlier periods, so an older unpaid year shows up here.
- Click Generate PSID. You get a 12-digit Payment Slip ID.
- Pay the PSID (next section) within 24 hours. The portal says a PSID is valid for 24 hours after it is generated and that only the most recent PSID is valid. If you miss the window, generate a fresh one.
- After payment, use Reprint Challan Receipt on the portal to download and print the paid challan.
Step by step: using a portal account
If you own several vehicles or also pay property or professional tax in Sindh, register an account on taxportal.excise.gos.pk. The same portal handles vehicle tax, property tax, professional tax registration and premium number plates, and keeps your payments in one place. The steps for a vehicle are the same: look it up, check the amount, generate the PSID, pay, and print.
How to pay the PSID
The PSID is a 1Link 1Bill invoice, so almost every bank can collect it. The portal lists 29 participating banks, including HBL, UBL and MCB, plus microfinance banks. Your options:
| Channel | How |
|---|---|
| Mobile or internet banking | Bill payment, then 1Bill Invoice or Excise and Taxation Sindh, enter the PSID |
| ATM | Bill payment, 1Bill invoice option, enter the PSID |
| JazzCash or Easypaisa | Bill payment, 1Bill or government payments, enter the PSID |
| Bank branch or agent | Give the PSID at the counter and pay in cash |
| Card online | The portal's BlinQ option takes debit or credit cards, JazzCash, Easypaisa and account transfers |
Before you confirm, check that the name and amount your bank app shows match what the portal calculated.
Do you still need a stamp in the registration book?
No. The department's own FAQ says there is no need to get a stamp in the book after paying online: a printed copy of the paid challan is enough. Keep it in the vehicle, or a PDF on your phone, in case traffic police or a buyer asks for proof.
Check a vehicle before you pay or buy
The Excise site has free lookups that are worth running first:
- Vehicle verification at excise.gos.pk/online-services/vehicle-verification: choose four wheelers or two wheelers and enter the registration number exactly as it appears on the plate.
- Vehicle verification by CNIC at excise.gos.pk/online-services/vehicle-verification-by-cnic.
- Number plate check at excise.gos.pk/vehicle/check_number_plate.
If you are buying a used car, run the verification before any money changes hands, and ask the seller to clear all outstanding token tax in their name. Our guide to the vehicle transfer fee calculator shows what the transfer will cost on top.
How much is the token tax?
The amount depends on the vehicle's engine capacity (or value, for newer and bigger cars), its age and whether earlier years are unpaid, and the portal calculates it for your exact vehicle. For an estimate before you log in, use our token tax calculator. The Excise department's own calculator at excise.gos.pk/tax-calculator estimates registration, transfer and lifetime tax charges, and says its results are indicative.
Common mistakes
- Wrong registration format. Use the letters, a hyphen and the digits as on the plate (for example ABC-123). Leaving out the hyphen or adding the year can return no record.
- Paying an old PSID. Only the latest PSID works, and only for 24 hours.
- Choosing the wrong vehicle type. A motorcycle searched as a four-wheeler returns nothing.
- Not keeping the receipt. Reprint and save the paid challan the same day.
- Paying for a car that is not yours without checking. Verify the registration number first; payments go against the number you enter.
Number plates
The department also runs a number plate service. Its FAQ says the portal route is only for owners who have not received their old number plates, and plates are collected from the Motor Vehicle Department in Karachi after you get a notification that they are ready. Premium numbers are sold separately at premiumnumber.excise.gos.pk.
Help
The Excise department's 24/7 call centre is (021) 111-374-634. It also has an Excise Sindh app on Android and iPhone for the same services.
