A Pakistani passport gives visa-free, visa-on-arrival or ETA entry to 29 destinations in 2026, and ranks 102nd on the Henley Passport Index. That breaks down into 11 visa-free countries, 15 with a visa on arrival and 3 that need only an online Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). A further 58 countries issue an e-visa you apply for online before you fly, which is how most Pakistanis now visit places like the UAE, Turkiye, Malaysia, Thailand and Azerbaijan.

Below is the full list of visa free countries for Pakistani passport holders, what each kind of entry means, and the mistakes that get travellers turned back at the airport.

1. Visa-free countries (11)

  • Barbados
  • Cook Islands
  • Dominica
  • Haiti
  • Micronesia
  • Montserrat
  • Rwanda
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  • The Gambia
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Vanuatu

Most of these are small island states in the Caribbean and Pacific, plus Rwanda and The Gambia in Africa. Getting there usually means transiting through a country that does need a visa or transit visa, so check the transit rules on your route first.

2. Visa on arrival (15)

  • Burundi
  • Cambodia
  • Comoro Islands
  • Djibouti
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Madagascar
  • Maldives
  • Nepal
  • Niue
  • Palau Islands
  • Samoa
  • Senegal
  • Sierra Leone
  • Timor-Leste
  • Tuvalu

The ones Pakistanis use most are the Maldives, Nepal, Cambodia and Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka is listed under ETA below). Carry the documents listed in the steps further down, because the officer can still refuse entry.

3. ETA countries (3)

  • Kenya
  • Seychelles
  • Sri Lanka

An ETA is applied for online before departure. Use only the government's own website: look-alike sites charge extra for the same form.

4. e-Visa countries (58)

These are not visa-free, but you can get the visa online without visiting an embassy:

Albania, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Cuba, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritania, Moldova, Myanmar, Namibia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, St. Helena, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Syria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, The Bahamas, Togo, Türkiye, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

This group includes the destinations most Pakistani tourists and families actually pick: UAE, Turkiye, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan. The United Kingdom also appears here because the application is made online, but it is a full visa with a biometrics appointment.

How to travel visa-free or on arrival from Pakistan, step by step

  1. Check your passport validity. Most countries want at least six months left from your arrival date and two blank pages. If yours is close, renew it first: see passport fees in Pakistan, and note that machine-readable passports end on 15 October.
  2. Confirm the rule on the country's official site or with its embassy in Islamabad. The Henley list above is a guide, not a guarantee.
  3. Check your transit country. A visa-free destination does not help if your connection is in a country that needs a transit visa.
  4. Book a return or onward ticket and keep a printed copy.
  5. Book your first nights' hotel and carry the confirmation.
  6. Carry proof of funds: a recent bank statement and some cash or a card that works abroad.
  7. Expect questions at FIA immigration in Pakistan. Officers at Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad airports may ask about your purpose of travel, return ticket and hotel.
  8. Pay any visa-on-arrival fee in the currency the country asks for (often US dollars). Use our currency converter to see the cost in rupees on the day.

Costs to plan for

  • Visa-free entry: no visa fee, but some countries charge an entry or tourist tax.
  • Visa on arrival and ETA: a fee is common and set by each country; check its official site.
  • e-Visa: a fee in dollars or local currency, paid by card online. Check the live dollar rate before you pay, because your bank adds its own exchange margin.

Common mistakes that get Pakistanis offloaded or refused

  • Relying on an old list. Countries add and remove Pakistan regularly; this page reflects the data on 1 October 2026.
  • Using an agent's "visa-free package" without checking. If an agent says a country is visa-free, confirm it on the official site. The Bureau of Emigration has warned about fake overseas job and visa offers.
  • Travelling on a visit visa to work. Visa-free and on-arrival entry is for tourism or short visits. Working on it can lead to deportation and a ban.
  • A passport with less than six months left, or a damaged one.
  • No return ticket or hotel booking, which is the most common reason officers refuse entry on arrival.
