Top 20 textile firms earn Rs 51.9bn in FY26, Interloop profit up 129%
Sales were flat at Rs 1.4 trillion, but cheaper borrowing and a lower tax rate lifted profits. Interloop, Sapphire and Nishat made almost half the sector's earnings.
Pakistan's 20 largest listed textile companies earned a combined Rs 51.9 billion in the year to June 2026 (FY26), up 11% from FY25, according to an analysis by Topline Securities. Sales were almost unchanged at about Rs 1.4 trillion (roughly $5 billion), so the gain came from lower borrowing costs and a lower tax bill rather than from selling more, ProPakistani reported.
Where the profit came from
- Finance costs fell 19% to Rs 54.5 billion as interest rates eased.
- The effective tax rate fell to 33.2% from 37.1%, mainly because companies reversed deferred tax liabilities after changes to how the super tax will apply to exporters.
- Sales fell 0.3% and gross profit 0.2%, with the gross margin steady at 13.1%.
The 20 companies make up 83% of the market value of the listed textile sector Topline tracks.
The three biggest earners
| Company | FY26 profit | Change | Sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interloop (consolidated) | Rs 12.7 billion | +129% | Rs 187.7 billion (+5%) |
| Sapphire Textile Mills (unconsolidated) | Rs 6.8 billion | +73% | Rs 81.2 billion (-13%) |
| Nishat Mills (unconsolidated) | Rs 5.5 billion | -9% | Rs 181.6 billion (+2%) |
Together these three made 48% of the sector's earnings. Sapphire is the odd one out: its profit rose by almost three-quarters even as sales dropped 13%.
What it means
Sales did not grow for the sector as a whole. The profit growth rests on two things that do not repeat by themselves: falling interest costs and a one-off tax reversal. If the policy rate, now 11.5% (see our policy rate page), stays where it is, next year's earnings will depend on orders.
