Zong wifi device for home: Zong has launched Z HomeFi, a 5G home internet service that runs on its mobile network instead of a fibre or copper line. The indoor 5G device costs Rs 22,000 and monthly packages run from Rs 4,500 to Rs 11,000, taxes included, according to Zong's own Z HomeFi page (checked 8 October 2026). That makes the cheapest first month Rs 26,500 (device plus the 10 Mbps, 100 GB package).

Zong calls it Pakistan's first 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) home broadband. It is prepaid, works like a data SIM in a router, and is sold only at Zong Customer Service Centres for now.

Z HomeFi packages and prices

All packages are monthly. Zong says the prices include GST (19.5%) and advance income tax (15%).

Speed (up to)100 GB250 GB500 GB
10 MbpsRs 4,500Rs 5,500Rs 7,500
20 MbpsRs 5,500Rs 6,500Rs 8,500
30 MbpsRs 6,000Rs 7,500Rs 10,000
50 MbpsRs 7,500Rs 9,000Rs 11,000

Speeds are "up to" figures and depend on signal, distance from the 5G tower, congestion and where you place the device. When the data runs out, the connection stops until you recharge or buy an add-on; Zong sends alerts at 50%, 80% and 100% use.

What it costs you, worked through

The price per GB falls sharply on the bigger packages:

PackageMonthlyCost per GB
10 Mbps, 100 GBRs 4,500Rs 45
10 Mbps, 500 GBRs 7,500Rs 15
50 Mbps, 100 GBRs 7,500Rs 75
50 Mbps, 500 GBRs 11,000Rs 22

First year, cheapest route: Rs 22,000 for the device plus 12 months at Rs 4,500 comes to Rs 76,000. On the top package (50 Mbps, 500 GB) it is Rs 22,000 plus Rs 132,000, or Rs 154,000.

A household that streams video every evening can go through 100 GB in well under a month, so for a family the 250 GB or 500 GB rows are the realistic ones. If you mainly need speed for a few users, the 10 Mbps, 500 GB package at Rs 15 per GB is the best value on the list. Compare it with the mobile data bundles on our mobile packages comparison.

The device

The Z HomeFi 5G Indoor CPE costs Rs 22,000 including tax and carries a 2-year warranty. Zong lists Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, one Gigabit Ethernet port, a nano-SIM slot, 5G and 4G (LTE) support, and up to 64 connected users on a single band. It is plug-and-play: insert the SIM, power on, connect.

Where it works, and the location lock

Zong's coverage checker lists these cities: Abbottabad, Attock, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Jhelum, Karachi, Kasur, Kohat, Lahore, Mardan, Multan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Sukkur and Topi. Being in a listed city is not enough: your address must fall inside an approved 5G FWA area, and the order is refused if it does not.

The device is locked to your address. Zong ties the SIM to the device (IMEI lock), to the cell site serving your home (geo lock) and to its own network. You cannot carry it to another house, office or city; moving needs an official relocation request. That matters for tenants who change homes often.

How to get Z HomeFi

  1. Check your area on the Z HomeFi page or call 310.
  2. Visit a Zong Customer Service Centre with your CNIC. Zong lists centres including Gulshan-e-Iqbal (Karachi), Mall Road (Lahore), Blue Area (Islamabad), Bank Road Saddar (Rawalpindi), University Road (Peshawar), Jinnah Road (Quetta) and Susan Road (Faisalabad).
  3. Feasibility check and biometric verification at the centre: your address and GPS location are checked against Zong's 5G coverage list.
  4. Pay for the device and the first package at the centre.
  5. Set it up yourself at home. Settings are pushed to the device automatically.

After that, recharge like any prepaid connection: the My Zong app, the call centre, a retailer, SMS or USSD. Check remaining data with *6969# from the master number. Our Zong number and balance guide lists the other codes.

Should you switch?

Z HomeFi makes most sense where fibre has not reached your street, or where you need a connection without waiting for a line. Before paying Rs 22,000, check 5G signal inside your home (not just on the roof), and remember the data caps: fixed-line packages are often unlimited, while every Z HomeFi package stops at its GB limit. To see how much of a package is tax, run the amount through our sales tax calculator.
