How India got to 211
India chose to bat and were 81 for 2 after six overs. Abhishek Sharma reached fifty off 20 balls and made 61 off 28 with seven sixes, many of them off a Pakistan attack that gave away width early. Arafat Minhas finally had him stumped by Usman Khan in the eighth over, and later bowled Ishan Kishan (20) to finish with 2 for 25 from three overs, Pakistan's best figures.
Pakistan pulled it back in the middle, with captain Sahibzada Farhan taking a sharp catch at extra cover to remove Shreyas Iyer (21) and leave India 133 for 5 in the 15th over. Then Tilak Varma hit 51 not out off 22 balls and Shivam Dube 27 off 15, and India took 78 off the last 35 balls. Ahmed Daniyal took 2 for 43, Abrar Ahmed 1 for 29 and Saim Ayub 1 for 47.
The chase: 39 for 3, then Hasan Nawaz
Pakistan lost Farhan (10), Usman Khan (3) and Maaz Sadaqat (23) inside the first seven overs, all to spin from Axar Patel (2 for 29) and Washington Sundar (2 for 29), and were 76 for 3 at the halfway mark. Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub (29 off 22) added 87 for the fourth wicket to keep the target in sight, but Shivam Dube removed Saim, caught by a running Washington Sundar, and finally Nawaz, caught by Sanju Samson. Nawaz hit five fours and seven sixes. Saad Masood finished on 12 not out off 5 balls.
Pakistan needed 50 off the last 16 balls, and it proved too many.
What the silver means
Pakistan had only won bronze in men's cricket at the Asian Games before, so this is their best finish. India keep the title they won in Hangzhou in 2023. Sri Lanka took bronze earlier on Saturday, beating Bangladesh by 63 runs.
