How the match went

This was the first ball either side had bowled at these Games: all four quarter-finals in Nisshin were washed out, and Pakistan reached the last four on their ranking. Rain delayed the start again on Thursday, and the match was reduced to 13 overs.

Captain Sahibzada Farhan chose to field, and Pakistan's spinners took control early. Arafat Minhas had Tanzid Hasan caught by Farhan, Saim Ayub bowled Bangladesh captain Litton Das for 2 with a ball that beat a reverse sweep, and Minhas struck again to leave Bangladesh 21 for 3 inside four overs. Towhid Hridoy hit back with 42 off 25 balls, adding 53 with Mosaddek Hossain, before Sufyan Moqim removed both in the 12th over to finish with 3 for 26. Bangladesh made 111 for 7.

The chase started badly. Farhan was caught at long-on for 1 in the first over and Maaz Sadaqat went for 15, and at 53 for 4 after 6.1 overs the match was open. Abdul Samad and Hasan Nawaz then added an unbeaten 59 off 32 balls. Samad hit five fours and a six in his 30 off 15, and Nawaz finished it with a four off Rishad Hossain.
