Bangladesh Women vs Pakistan Women, bronze medal play-off, Tuesday 22 September, 5:00am Pakistan time (9:00am local), Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin, Aichi. The gold medal match, India vs Sri Lanka, starts at 10:00am Pakistan time the same morning.

Captain and squad

Batters: Ayesha Zafar (opener), Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza (wicketkeeper), Shawaal Zulfiqar. Muneeba Ali, the other wicketkeeper picked, withdrew.

Allrounders: Fatima Sana (captain), Aliya Riaz, Saira Jabeen.

Bowlers: Humna Bilal, Momina Riasat, Nashra Sandhu, Tasmia Rubab, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani.

Nashra Sandhu and Momina Riasat both bowl slow left arm orthodox, Tuba Hassan bowls legbreak, and Umm-e-Hani offbreak. Aliya Riaz, at 33, is the most experienced player in the group. Eman Naseer, 19, is the youngest.

Results at the 2026 Asian Games

Quarter-final, 17 September, vs Thailand: Pakistan won by 3 wickets with 2 balls to spare in a rain-shortened 11-over game. Thailand made 91 for 4, Pakistan got to 92 for 7.

Semi-final, 20 September, vs Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets with 13 balls left. Pakistan posted 177 for 4, their best total of the tournament, with Ayesha Zafar making 71 and Shawaal Zulfiqar 54. Chamari Athapaththu answered with 83 not out and Hasini Perera 42, and Sri Lanka were home in 17.5 overs.

Shawaal Zulfiqar is Pakistan's leading run scorer at the Games with 79 runs in two innings.

What Tuesday is worth

Bangladesh are the team that knocked Pakistan off the podium last time. At Hangzhou in 2023, Pakistan lost the bronze medal match to Bangladesh and finished fourth. Win on Tuesday and Pakistan leave Japan with a medal, and with a result against the side that beat them three years ago.

Honours

• 2010 Guangzhou: gold. Pakistan beat Bangladesh in the final, Japan took bronze.
• 2014 Incheon: gold. Pakistan beat Bangladesh again in a final decided on Duckworth-Lewis.
• 2023 Hangzhou: fourth. India took gold, Sri Lanka silver, Bangladesh bronze.

Pakistan are the only side to have won the women's cricket gold at the Asian Games twice.
