Fatima Sana joins Perth Scorchers for WBBL 12: first match 31 October at 1:10pm PKT

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has signed for the Perth Scorchers for WBBL 12, the Women's Big Bash League season that runs from 31 October to 29 November 2026, ESPNcricinfo, Geo Super and ARY News reported on Saturday. She has a one-year deal and is available for the Scorchers' first eight matches, which makes her only the second Pakistani woman to play in the WBBL, after Nida Dar's 11 matches for Sydney Thunder in WBBL 05.

What the deal means for Pakistan fans

Fatima Sana, 24, will open her WBBL career at home for Perth against the Melbourne Renegades at the WACA Ground on Saturday 31 October at 4:10pm Perth time, which is 1:10pm in Pakistan, according to the Scorchers' published fixture list. Perth is three hours ahead of Pakistan, so most of the Scorchers' afternoon games fall around lunchtime in Pakistan, and the Sydney and Melbourne away games start an hour earlier.

Her eight-match window runs into late November. She joins the Scorchers squad alongside England's Freya Kemp and New Zealand's Sophie Devine, ARY News reported.

"To now wear the Scorchers colours, represent such a great club and walk out at the WACA Ground in front of members and fans, while being cheered on by people back home, is incredibly special," she said in the club's announcement. The club's general manager, Kade Harvey, called her "one of the most exciting young allrounders in world cricket".

Why Perth wanted her

• 2026 so far: 540 runs and 31 wickets in T20 internationals this year, Geo Super reported, including 11 wickets at the Women's T20 World Cup.
• Career: 70 T20Is, 957 runs at 33 and 72 wickets, and 134 white-ball matches for Pakistan, ARY News reported.
• Record: the fastest fifty in women's T20 internationals, off 15 balls against Zimbabwe.
• Overseas experience: six matches for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred in 2026.

Last month she led Pakistan to the women's cricket bronze at the Asian Games in Japan, top-scoring with 45 as they beat Bangladesh. Report: Pakistan women take Asian Games bronze.
