The LPG price in Pakistan today is Rs 279.34 per kg, and a domestic 11.8 kg cylinder now costs Rs 3,296.23, up Rs 244.14 from September. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) notified the new price for 1 to 31 October 2026, an increase of about 8% just as winter demand for cooking and heating gas starts to climb.

LPG price October 2026: old vs new

September 2026October 2026Change
Per kgRs 258.64Rs 279.34+Rs 20.70
11.8 kg domestic cylinderRs 3,052.09Rs 3,296.23+Rs 244.14
45.4 kg commercial cylinder*Rs 11,742.26Rs 12,682.04+Rs 939.78

*The 45.4 kg figure is the notified per-kg rate multiplied by 45.4; OGRA's notice as reported gives the per-kg and 11.8 kg prices.

Why LPG went up this month

OGRA links the domestic price to the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP), the benchmark for imported propane and butane, and to the rupee-dollar rate. For October, Dawn reported that the regulator said:

  • the Saudi Aramco CP rose 9.9% from September;
  • the average dollar exchange rate fell 0.12%, which was far too small to offset it.

The producer price was set at Rs 238,041.49 per tonne. On top of that come a petroleum levy of Rs 4,669 per tonne, marketing (Rs 17,000), distribution (Rs 10,000) and transportation (Rs 8,000) margins per tonne, and 18% GST.

What it means for your kitchen

Many homes in Pakistan without a piped Sui gas connection, and many that get only a few hours of gas in winter, cook on LPG. Here is what the new price does to a monthly budget:

  • One 11.8 kg cylinder a month: Rs 3,296, or Rs 244 more than in September.
  • Two cylinders a month (a family that also heats water or a room in winter): Rs 6,592, Rs 488 more.
  • A dhaba or small restaurant using four 45.4 kg cylinders a month: about Rs 50,700, roughly Rs 3,760 more.

Prices in your area can be higher than OGRA's figure once a shop adds delivery. If a dealer charges well above the notified price, you can complain to OGRA through its complaint portal or helpline listed at ogra.org.pk.

LPG or piped gas: which is cheaper?

For homes on a protected Sui gas slab, piped gas still costs much less than LPG per unit of heat. That gap is set to narrow: the government plans a single gas tariff of Rs 1,708 per MMBtu from July 2027. Work out what your own Sui gas bill would be with our gas bill calculator, and compare it with the cylinder prices above.

Areas such as Lahore that already face overnight gas shutdowns tend to see LPG demand rise first, which is when shops push prices above the official rate.

What to do now

  1. Check the price on the cylinder receipt. For October it should not be far above Rs 3,296.23 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder.
  2. Weigh the cylinder if you can. An 11.8 kg cylinder should hold 11.8 kg of gas on top of the empty cylinder's weight, which is stamped on it.
  3. Buy from a licensed distributor, and never refill from roadside decanting, which is both unsafe and illegal.
  4. Expect another change on 1 November. OGRA sets the LPG price once a month, so the next notice comes at the end of October.
