Latest: 1 November 2026: LPG price November 2026
| October 2026 | November 2026 | Change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per kg | Rs 279.34 | Rs 294.08 | +Rs 14.73 |
| 11.8 kg domestic cylinder | Rs 3,296.23 | Rs 3,470.09 | +Rs 173.86 |
| 45.4 kg commercial cylinder* | Rs 12,682.04 | Rs 13,351.01 | +Rs 668.97 |
*The 45.4 kg figure is the notified per-kg rate multiplied by 45.4; the notice as reported gives the per-kg and 11.8 kg prices.
Why it went up again
Dawn reported that OGRA put the consumer price at Rs 294,075 per tonne, against Rs 279,341 in October, because:
- the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP), the benchmark for imported propane and butane, rose 6.47% month on month;
- the average dollar exchange rate fell 0.12%, far too little to offset it.
This is the third monthly rise in a row: Rs 3,052 in September, Rs 3,296 in October and Rs 3,470 now.
The open market is charging almost double
The official price is not what most families are paying. Dawn found LPG selling for up to Rs 630 a kg in the open market and up to Rs 400 a kg at company-operated franchises. For an 11.8 kg cylinder that works out to:
- OGRA price: Rs 3,470
- Company franchise, at Rs 400 a kg: about Rs 4,720 (Rs 1,250 more)
- Open market, at Rs 630 a kg: about Rs 7,434 (Rs 3,964 more)
Irfan Khokhar, chairman of the LPG Distributors Association of Pakistan, told Dawn that at least 70% of the LPG sold here comes from Iran and blamed the shortage on the closure of the Iran border. The Pakistan LPG Marketers Association has separately threatened a strike from 16 November if the government brings in its new LPG policy, which the Prime Minister has sent to a review committee for a month.
What to do
- Ask the dealer for the OGRA rate before you pay, and weigh the cylinder: a full 11.8 kg cylinder should weigh 11.8 kg more than the empty one stamped on its collar.
- Overcharging can be reported to OGRA through the complaint portal at ogra.org.pk, or to your district price control magistrate.
- If you have a Sui gas connection, check what the same heat costs on piped gas with our gas bill calculator.
Earlier: October 2026
Update, Sunday 18 October 2026: cylinders are selling for about Rs 5,000 in many markets, against OGRA's Rs 3,296, and the government has ordered a crackdown on hoarding. The Petroleum Division told OGRA and the provinces that imported LPG is not being regularly lifted from import terminals, creating an artificial shortage, with the steepest overcharging in hilly, remote and off-grid areas, Dawn reported. At Rs 5,000 a household pays about Rs 1,704 more per 11.8 kg cylinder than the notified price. The official October price below has not changed. Full story: LPG cylinders selling at Rs 5,000 as the govt orders a hoarding crackdown.
The LPG price in Pakistan today is Rs 279.34 per kg, and a domestic 11.8 kg cylinder now costs Rs 3,296.23, up Rs 244.14 from September. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) notified the new price for 1 to 31 October 2026, an increase of about 8% just as winter demand for cooking and heating gas starts to climb.
LPG price October 2026: old vs new
| September 2026 | October 2026 | Change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per kg | Rs 258.64 | Rs 279.34 | +Rs 20.70 |
| 11.8 kg domestic cylinder | Rs 3,052.09 | Rs 3,296.23 | +Rs 244.14 |
| 45.4 kg commercial cylinder* | Rs 11,742.26 | Rs 12,682.04 | +Rs 939.78 |
*The 45.4 kg figure is the notified per-kg rate multiplied by 45.4; OGRA's notice as reported gives the per-kg and 11.8 kg prices.
Why LPG went up this month
OGRA links the domestic price to the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP), the benchmark for imported propane and butane, and to the rupee-dollar rate. For October, Dawn reported that the regulator said:
- the Saudi Aramco CP rose 9.9% from September;
- the average dollar exchange rate fell 0.12%, which was far too small to offset it.
The producer price was set at Rs 238,041.49 per tonne. On top of that come a petroleum levy of Rs 4,669 per tonne, marketing (Rs 17,000), distribution (Rs 10,000) and transportation (Rs 8,000) margins per tonne, and 18% GST.
What it means for your kitchen
Many homes in Pakistan without a piped Sui gas connection, and many that get only a few hours of gas in winter, cook on LPG. Here is what the new price does to a monthly budget:
- One 11.8 kg cylinder a month: Rs 3,296, or Rs 244 more than in September.
- Two cylinders a month (a family that also heats water or a room in winter): Rs 6,592, Rs 488 more.
- A dhaba or small restaurant using four 45.4 kg cylinders a month: about Rs 50,700, roughly Rs 3,760 more.
Prices in your area can be higher than OGRA's figure once a shop adds delivery. If a dealer charges well above the notified price, you can complain to OGRA through its complaint portal or helpline listed at ogra.org.pk.
LPG or piped gas: which is cheaper?
For homes on a protected Sui gas slab, piped gas still costs much less than LPG per unit of heat. That gap is set to narrow: the government plans a single gas tariff of Rs 1,708 per MMBtu from July 2027. Work out what your own Sui gas bill would be with our gas bill calculator, and compare it with the cylinder prices above.
Areas such as Lahore that already face overnight gas shutdowns tend to see LPG demand rise first, which is when shops push prices above the official rate.
What to do now
- Check the price on the cylinder receipt. For October it should not be far above Rs 3,296.23 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder.
- Weigh the cylinder if you can. An 11.8 kg cylinder should hold 11.8 kg of gas on top of the empty cylinder's weight, which is stamped on it.
- Buy from a licensed distributor, and never refill from roadside decanting, which is both unsafe and illegal.
- Expect another change on 1 November. OGRA sets the LPG price once a month, so the next notice comes at the end of October.
Petrol and diesel are priced separately: see today's figures on our petrol price and diesel price pages.
