CM IT Internship Programme opens registration: Rs 50,000 a month for 4,000+ graduates in 350 Punjab IT firms
PITB will place shortlisted IT graduates in software companies for four months on a Rs 50,000 monthly stipend. Who qualified last time, where to apply and what to have ready.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has opened candidate registration for the Chief Minister IT Internship Programme (CMITIP), the paid internship that places fresh IT graduates in software houses across Punjab, Business Recorder reported on Wednesday.
The numbers
- Places: more than 4,000 shortlisted candidates.
- Employers: more than 350 IT companies across Punjab.
- Length: four months.
- Stipend: Rs 50,000 a month, or Rs 200,000 over the internship.
PITB chairman Faisal Yousaf said the programme connects "talented IT graduates with industry" so they gain practical experience and build a professional portfolio.
Who can apply
PITB has not yet published separate rules for this round. For the previous (second) cohort in April, PITB's notice set these conditions, and they are the best guide until new ones appear on the portal:
- a degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field, completed within the last four years;
- a valid CNIC;
- Punjab domicile.
In April the stipend was paid against monthly performance and on submission of an HEC-attested degree, and that cohort ran for five months, so check the current terms when you register.
How to apply
- Go to the official portal, cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk, and create an account with your CNIC.
- Fill in your degree, university, graduation year and skills. Upload your CV and degree.
- Start the HEC attestation of your degree now if it is not done: it was a condition of being paid last time, and it takes time.
- Wait for shortlisting and the company placement.
For help, PITB's notice gives 042-99000000 (extensions 1925, 1908 or 1207) and info@cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk. PITB has not announced a closing date; so apply early.
Is Rs 50,000 taxable?
Whether tax is deducted depends on your total income for the year. Run your own figures through our income tax calculator, and if you plan to freelance alongside, see the freelancer tax calculator.
Watch out for fake "registration fee" messages: PITB's portal is the only place to apply, and it is a .gov.pk address.
