Jhelum Computer Science papers back on 10 November, not 30 November, after CM removes DC

BISE Rawalpindi had pushed the Intermediate Computer Science papers to 30 November because of a chief minister's visit. Punjab has reversed that, so students in Jhelum sit them on the original date.

Intermediate students in Jhelum who were told their Computer Science papers had moved to 30 November should plan for Tuesday 10 November, the original date. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced on Sunday 8 November that the papers will be held as first scheduled, Geo News reported.

What happened

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi had postponed the Computer Science papers of the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations from 10 November to 30 November. According to Geo, the board acted on the recommendation of the Jhelum deputy commissioner, because the chief minister was expected to visit Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan on 10 November and traffic congestion was anticipated.

The chief minister then removed the deputy commissioner with immediate effect. In a post on X she said her directions that district visits must not cause inconvenience to the public, particularly students, had been clearly disregarded. A Punjab government notification shared afterwards shows the officer, a BS-19 grade official, was transferred and told to report to the Services and General Administration Department for further orders. Dawn's report on the removal carried the chief minister's words "foolishness" and "misplaced over-smartness" in its headline.

What students should do

  • Date: the paper is back on 10 November, the date on your original datesheet. The 30 November date no longer applies.
  • Roll number slip and centre: keep the slip and exam centre you already have. We have not seen any notice changing centres, and the board's earlier postponement notice has been overtaken by the chief minister's announcement.
  • Check with the board: The reports we read on Sunday did not include a fresh board notice. Confirm the date on the board's official site or with your college before you travel, and see our BISE Rawalpindi result and board guide for the board's contact routes.
  • Plan for the road: if the chief minister visits Jhelum or Pind Dadan Khan that day, leave early. The reversal is meant to ensure exams are not disrupted, but the traffic warning that triggered the postponement was about real road closures.

Why it matters

A 20-day shift in a single paper would have left Jhelum students sitting Computer Science weeks after classmates elsewhere in the Rawalpindi board area, and delayed the whole result cycle for them. Students and parents had already begun reworking preparation plans after the first notice.

ProPakistani also reported the rescheduling and updated its story after the reversal. We will update this page when BISE Rawalpindi publishes its own notice.
