Maryam Nawaz orders girls' hostel at University of Sahiwal, Work for Punjab interns to get Rs60,000 to Rs65,000

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday directed officials to build a girls' hostel at the University of Sahiwal, ARY News reported. She gave the order at a ceremony in Sahiwal where students received laptops and Honhaar Scholarship cheques.

No capacity, cost or deadline for the hostel was announced.

What else was announced

• Work for Punjab internships: fresh graduates will get monthly stipends of Rs60,000 to Rs65,000, the chief minister said.
• Nurses will be included in government student schemes, and so will students of religious seminaries.
• The laptop scheme has a quota for students from other provinces studying in Punjab.
• Washrooms, drinking water and AI tools are being added to schools, colleges and universities across the province.
• The Parwaaz Card helps skilled workers going abroad, including with air tickets.
• Vice-chancellors were appointed on merit after she interviewed candidates herself in batches of ten, she said.

She also said urban development would reach beyond Lahore, naming Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan.

Honhaar Scholarship and the laptop scheme
