Peshawar holiday on Monday 12 October: all schools, colleges and universities closed

All public and private schools, colleges and universities in Peshawar district will be closed on Monday 12 October 2026, under a notification issued on Sunday 11 October by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, ProPakistani reported. Peshawar holiday tomorrow: yes, for every institution in the district, for one day.

What the notification says

• Who: all public and private educational institutions within Peshawar district: schools, colleges and universities.
• When: Monday 12 October 2026, for the day. Academic activities are suspended.
• Signed by: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Daud Saleemi, on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.
• Copied to: the relevant government departments, police, education authorities and the heads of public and private institutions.

What it does not say

The notification gives no reason for the closure, and it says nothing about exams scheduled for Monday. It came on the same day the federal government imposed an emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and deployed the army in aid of civil power, but the notification does not link the two.

What to do as a parent or student

1. Do not send children to school on Monday in Peshawar district, unless your school tells you otherwise in writing.
2. Exams: if you had a paper on Monday at a school, college, university or board, check the institution's or board's official page or SMS before assuming it is postponed. Rescheduled papers are normally announced by the institution itself.
3. Other districts: this order covers Peshawar only. Schools in Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda and the rest of KP follow their own deputy commissioner or the provincial education department.
4. Tuesday: unless a new notification is issued, institutions reopen on Tuesday 13 October. We will update this page if the closure is extended.
