Pensioners' proof of life certificate now on Pak ID app: no bank visit every 6 months

Pensioners in Pakistan no longer have to walk into a bank every six months to prove they are alive. NADRA announced on Monday, 28 September 2026, that the proof of life certificate can now be obtained through the Pak ID mobile app, and that it is sent electronically to the pension disbursing authority.

For millions of retired government and other pensioners, the twice-a-year life certificate has meant a queue at the branch, a signature from a gazetted officer or a thumbprint, and a stopped pension if they miss the date. The app route is meant to end that trip.

How the new process works

According to NADRA's spokesperson, as reported by ARY News:

1. The pensioner completes the proof of life steps in the Pak ID app.
2. The application and data are forwarded electronically to the relevant pension disbursing authority.
3. That authority instructs the pensioner's bank to release the pension.
4. The pension is credited to the pensioner's account as usual.

• NADRA registration centres (NRCs)
• Union councils
• e-Sahulat franchises
• NADRA mobile registration vans

What NADRA has not said yet

The announcement does not list which pensioners are covered first (federal, provincial, military or EOBI), and it gives no fee or rollout date. Until your pension office confirms it accepts the app certificate, keep your usual deadline in mind:

1. Ask your bank or AGPR or accounts office whether it has started receiving Pak ID certificates.
2. Do the app process a few weeks before your certificate is due, not on the last day.
3. Keep a screenshot of the confirmation in the app.
