Raiwind Ijtema traffic plan: roads into Raiwind closed 6am to 1pm on Sunday 8 November
Raiwind Road, Thokar Niaz Baig, Manga and Sunder roads go one way or close as Ijtema participants leave, and motorway and Ring Road exits to Raiwind shut. Here is how to get around.

Lahore traffic police will close every main road into Raiwind from 6:00am to 1:00pm PKT on Sunday 8 November 2026 for the departure of participants from the annual Tablighi Ijtema, Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Sherazi announced on Saturday, ARY News reported. The Raiwind Ijtema traffic plan also stops all traffic heading towards Raiwind city and the gathering ground during those seven hours.
If you live in or travel through south-west Lahore on Sunday morning, this is what changes.
Roads closed or one-way on Sunday
The closures cover:
- Raiwind Road, and the roads inside Raiwind city
- Pajian Mor to Qazalbash Chowk, and Qazalbash Chowk to Thokar Niaz Baig
- Bhobattian Chowk to Mohlanwal
- Sunder Road, Manga Road, Kot Radha Kishan Road and Sui Asal Road
On the Pajian Mor, Qazalbash Chowk and Thokar Niaz Baig stretch, and between Bhobattian Chowk and Mohlanwal, traffic will run one way on both carriageways to move people out of the Ijtema. The same one-way system applies on Sunder, Manga, Kot Radha Kishan and Sui Asal roads.
Motorway and Ring Road exits shut
While participants leave, the exits from the motorway and the Lahore Ring Road towards Raiwind will be closed, so a driver coming off either road cannot turn towards Raiwind until the restriction lifts. Crossing the road will also be barred at several points along Raiwind, Manga, Sunder and Mohlanwal roads, which matters for anyone who usually cuts across these roads to reach a village or a factory on the other side.
What to do
- Travel before 6am or after 1pm if your trip touches Raiwind Road, Thokar Niaz Baig or the Manga and Sunder industrial belt.
- Use the city side: traffic police advised commuters to keep off Raiwind Road in those hours and take other routes.
- Factory and shift workers in Sunder and Manga should expect the one-way system to slow buses and rickshaws even on roads that stay open.
- If a longer detour is unavoidable, our fuel cost calculator works out what the extra kilometres cost at today's petrol price.
The closure covers the final day of the Ijtema, when participants leave Raiwind together, so expect the roads around it to stay slow for a while after 1pm.
Lahore traffic police have been tightening enforcement this autumn: see our earlier report on FIRs for one-way and overspeeding offences.
