National Jobs Portal (NJP): how to register and apply on njp.gov.pk in 2026

The National Jobs Portal (NJP) is the federal government's own job site at njp.gov.pk, run by the National Information Technology Board (NITB). You sign up with your CNIC, an email address and a password, build one CV on the portal, and then apply to any listed government vacancy with a click before its closing date. The sign-up form has no payment step.

Quick answer: go to njp.gov.pk, click Sign Up, choose Candidate Signup, enter your CNIC (00000-0000000-0 format), email and password, verify through PAK-ID, complete the CV sections, then open a job and click Apply. Helpline: 051-9265411 or 051-9265062, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

When we checked the portal on 26 October 2026, its home page showed 111+ active jobs, 238+ departments and more than 2.3 million registered users, with a separate Balochistan Jobs section listing 10 domicile-restricted posts.

What the National Jobs Portal is (and is not)

NJP was set up by the Ministry of IT and Telecom in 2020 as "Pakistan's first-ever centralized job portal" for federal ministries and their departments, according to NITB. Today it lists federal posts and some autonomous bodies' posts, from BPS-01 Naib Qasid up to contract consultants on lump-sum pay.

It is not a recruitment agency and it does not hold the test. A department may still ask you to sit a test through FPSC, NTS, PTS or its own panel; the job's own advertisement says which. NJP is also not the place for provincial commission jobs: PPSC, SPSC, KPPSC and BPSC run their own portals. For those, see our PPSC jobs 2026 page and the SPSC CCE dates page.

What you need before you start

  • Your CNIC (13 digits). The portal formats it as 00000-0000000-0.
  • An email address you can open. Password resets and alerts go there.
  • A PAK-ID account. PAK-ID is NADRA's online identity app; NJP's FAQ says registration is completed "using your CNIC and PAK-ID credentials", and the login page has a PAK-ID sign-in button. If your PAK-ID account is locked, NADRA's own recovery steps are summarised here by ARY News.
  • Scans or details of your degrees, with marks or CGPA, board or university and year, and your work history with dates.
  • Your date of birth on the CNIC. Every post has an age limit (the one we opened was 25 to 50 years), and the portal checks it. Use our age calculator to work out your exact age on the closing date.

How to register on njp.gov.pk, step by step

  1. Open https://njp.gov.pk in your browser. Type the address yourself; do not follow a link from WhatsApp.
  2. Click Sign Up at the top right.
  3. Under Account Type, choose Candidate Signup (the only option for job seekers; departments get employer accounts from NITB directly).
  4. Enter your CNIC number, email address, a password and the password again, then click SignUp Now.
  5. Complete the identity check with your PAK-ID credentials when the portal asks for it.
  6. Sign in at njp.gov.pk/login with your CNIC, email and password.

How to build your NJP CV

Your CV on the portal is what every department sees, so fill it once and fill it properly. After signing in, open the Resume Builder (it lives at njp.gov.pk/candidate/cv).

  1. Personal details: name exactly as on your CNIC, father's name, domicile (district and province), gender, date of birth.
  2. Education: every qualification from Matric onwards, with the exact degree title. The portal matches degree titles to each job's list (the IT post we opened accepted more than 40 named degrees, from BSCS to MPhil IT), so pick the closest exact title rather than "Other".
  3. Experience: employer, post, start and end dates. Jobs filter by experience (none, 1+, 2+, 3+, 5+ or 10+ years), so a missing date can count you out.
  4. Skills and certificates, if the post asks for them.
  5. Save each section and check the CV preview before you apply.

How to find and apply for a job

  1. Click Find Jobs (njp.gov.pk/jobs/live). Filter by job type (regular or contract), scale (BPS-01 to BPS-22 and other pay groups), experience and age.
  2. Open the job and read the whole page: qualifications, experience, age limit (minimum and maximum), number of vacancies and the application deadline.
  3. Click Login to Apply, then Apply, and submit before the deadline. A job shows "Expires today" on its last day.
  4. Use Save Job to keep a shortlist, and check your dashboard for the status of each application.
  5. If the department asks for a test or interview, the call letter comes by email or SMS; keep the contact details on your profile current.

Balochistan Jobs section

NJP has a separate Balochistan Jobs tab (njp.gov.pk/jobs/balochistan) for federal and SFC posts restricted to candidates with a Balochistan domicile. On 26 October it carried 10 positions, such as Naib Qasid (BPS-01, 3 posts), Staff Car Driver (BPS-04) and Junior Auditor posts for the Auditor General of Pakistan, open until 9 November 2026. You need a Balochistan domicile on your profile to apply.

How to spot a fake NJP page or job

  • The only official address is njp.gov.pk. Many sites copy the name "NJP jobs" to collect clicks; they are not the portal.
  • Nobody needs your password or PAK-ID code. NJP staff will not ask for them by phone or WhatsApp.
  • No one can "guarantee" a government job for money. If someone asks for a fee to register you on NJP or to get you selected, it is a scam. Report it on the NCCIA complaint portal.
  • Check the job on the portal itself. A vacancy that appears only in a forwarded image, and not on njp.gov.pk or the department's own site, is not a real NJP listing.
  • For overseas offers, check the agency's Permission Tracking Number instead: see our BEOE PTN check.

Common mistakes

  1. Degree title picked as "Other". The portal's eligibility check works on exact titles.
  2. Applying after the deadline day. The listing closes; there is no late window.
  3. Wrong domicile. Quota posts (Balochistan, merged districts and others) check it.
  4. Age worked out on today's date instead of the closing date.
  5. An email you never open. Interview calls and password resets go there.
  6. Registering on a look-alike site and handing over your CNIC.
