Zong number check code and balance 2026: what works, and what does not
Zong publishes a balance code, a recharge code, a loan code and a helpline. It does not publish a code that reads out your own number. Here is every official Zong code, what each one costs, and the methods that actually find your number.

Start with the part most pages get wrong: Zong does not publish a standalone dial code that reads out your own number. The codes passed around in WhatsApp forwards are not on Zong's website, and some of them connect to paid services or subscribe you to something.
What Zong does publish, and what actually works, is below.
The Zong codes that are on Zong's own site
| What you want | Code | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Balance inquiry (prepaid) | *222# | Also available by calling 310 |
| Recharge a scratch card | *101*PIN# | Or dial 101 and enter the PIN |
| Helpline | 310 | Free from a Zong number |
| Send balance (Yaari Load) | *828# | Rs 5, or Rs 5.62 where a recharge applies |
| Ask someone for balance | *829# | No charge |
| Advance loan | *911# | Or send a blank SMS to 6911 |
| Call with no balance (Yaari Call) | 11 before the number | The person you call pays |
Anything not on that list, treat as unverified.
How to find your own Zong number
Five methods, in the order they actually work.
Ring another phone. Call any handset you can see and read the number off its screen. Free, instant, and it works even on a dead balance if you use Yaari Call: dial
11and then the number, for example 1103001234567. The person you are calling pays for that call, so use your own second phone or warn them first.Open the My Zong app. The app shows your number, current balance, and remaining minutes, SMS and data, and it lets you link up to five Zong numbers in one place. Usage history goes back seven days. The app is free; your own internet charges apply. New registrations get 6GB free, released as 200MB a day.
Call 310. The helpline can confirm the number you are calling from. Keep your CNIC handy, because identity questions come before account details.
Check the SIM pack. The number is printed on the plastic card the SIM came out of. Obvious, and it is the one people throw away.
Ask for a missed call. Send a friend a WhatsApp asking them to ring you, then read the number from your own call log.
What checking and topping up actually costs
This is where the money goes, and Zong states the numbers on its own pages.
On every recharge, 15 per cent advance income tax is deducted. Load Rs 100 and roughly Rs 85 lands in your balance. That 15 per cent is not lost money if you file a tax return, because advance income tax is adjustable against your annual liability. Most prepaid users never claim it, which is why it is worth knowing. Our mobile load tax calculator shows what a given load is worth after tax.
On usage, sales tax of 19.5 per cent applies where it is chargeable. That is deducted as you use the balance, not at the moment of recharge, which is why a Rs 100 card never buys Rs 100 of calls.
Balance transfer costs Rs 5 through *828#, or Rs 5.62 where the recharge condition applies. Both sender and receiver must be prepaid Zong, the minimum transfer is Rs 10 and the maximum is Rs 200, you must keep at least Rs 5 in your own account afterwards, and you get five transfers a day. It does not work on dealer, employee, franchise or service tariffs, and not in FATA and PATA. Promotional balance, loan amounts, handset balance and auto-load cannot be transferred.
Requesting balance through *829# is free.
The advance loan, and what it really costs
Dial *911# or send a blank SMS to 6911.
- If your recharge has averaged under Rs 650 a month over the last three months, you get Rs 15 with a service fee of Rs 4.5 plus tax.
- If it has averaged over Rs 650, you qualify as a super advance customer and get Rs 30 with a fee of Rs 8 plus tax.
- You can take two loans per recharge cycle, so Rs 30 or Rs 60 in total. Dial the code twice.
- You cannot use it in the first 30 days after activating a new SIM.
- You need to recharge at least Rs 80 to clear the loan.
Put that in perspective: Rs 4.5 on a Rs 15 loan is a 30 per cent charge on a loan that lasts until your next top-up. Convenient in an emergency, expensive as a habit.
Five mistakes that cost people money
- Dialling codes from a forwarded message. If it is not on Zong's site, do not dial it. Some short codes subscribe you to a paid service on the first press.
- Checking the balance ten times a day. Use the app instead of the code. The app reads the same data without a USSD session.
- Ignoring the 15 per cent advance income tax. If you file a return, this is claimable. Over a year of Rs 1,000 a month in loads, that is about Rs 1,800.
- Using the advance loan as a monthly routine. At Rs 4.5 on Rs 15, twice a month, you are paying Rs 108 a year for the privilege of topping up late.
- Buying a used phone without checking the IMEI. A blocked or altered IMEI will not register on any Pakistani network. Dial
*#06#, then check the IMEI with PTA on 8484. Lahore police have begun tracing altered IMEIs, which we covered here.
If you are on another network
The codes are different on each network and the number-check situation is the same: none of the four operators publishes a code that speaks your own number back to you. Our Telenor number check guide lists that network's four published codes and the Rs 0.24 charge each check carries.
If you are bringing a phone in from abroad, registration is the bigger cost. The PTA tax calculator estimates what DIRBS will charge on passport and on CNIC before you buy.
