If your SSGC gas bill has not arrived, or you have lost it and the due date is close, you do not need to visit an office. The duplicate bill is on SSGC's own portal and takes about thirty seconds, provided you have one number.

This guide covers Sui Southern Gas Company, which supplies Sindh and Balochistan, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah, Quetta and Gwadar. If your meter is in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Islamabad, you are an SNGPL customer and the process is different. Our Sui gas bill guide covering both companies is the place to start if you are not sure which one you are on.

Step by step: download your SSGC duplicate bill

  1. Go to viewbill.ssgc.com.pk. This is SSGC's own billing portal, not a third-party site.
  2. Enter your 10-digit Customer Number. This is the only thing the page asks for.
  3. Submit. The current bill loads as a PDF you can view, download or print.
  4. Print it if you are paying over a counter. Most banks and franchises will scan the barcode from a printed page.

That printed duplicate is a valid bill. You do not need a stamped copy from a billing zone to pay it.

Where to find your 10-digit customer number

This is the step that stops most people.

On an old bill. The customer number is printed on the top portion of the bill, above the billing period. It is ten digits with no letters.

On the meter card or connection contract. If you have the original domestic connection paperwork, it is on there.

If you have neither. Call the SSGC helpline on 1199 (or 99021000 from a landline or mobile) with your CNIC and the exact address of the connection. They can retrieve it. Alternatively, visit a Customer Facilitation Centre in your city with the original CNIC.

The mistake to avoid: do not use a neighbour's number, and do not use the meter serial number. The meter serial is a different number and the portal will reject it.

The CNIC update everyone is ignoring

SSGC carries a standing notice on the billing portal: under Government of Pakistan and FBR directives, consumers must visit their nearest Billing Zone or Customer Facilitation Centre with the original CNIC to have the CNIC number recorded on the gas bill.

This matters more than it sounds. An unmatched CNIC on a utility connection is exactly the kind of gap that causes problems later, when you sell the property, transfer the connection, or want the bill accepted as proof of address by a bank. Do it once, on a weekday morning, and it is done.

What the bill actually charges you

SSGC domestic gas is billed per MMBTU on a slab system, split into protected and non-protected consumers. The rates below are those published by SSGC, updated 22 August 2025, under OGRA's notification of 29 June 2025.

Protected category (average consumption over the four winter months November to February at or below 0.9 hm3):

  • Up to 0.25 hm3 a month: Rs 200 per MMBTU
  • Up to 0.5 hm3: Rs 250
  • Up to 0.6 hm3: Rs 300
  • Up to 0.9 hm3: Rs 350

Protected consumers also pay a fixed charge of Rs 600 and meter rent of Rs 40.

Non-protected category (everyone else):

  • Up to 0.25 hm3 a month: Rs 500 per MMBTU
  • Up to 0.6 hm3: Rs 850
  • Up to 1 hm3: Rs 1,250
  • Up to 1.5 hm3: Rs 1,450
  • Up to 2 hm3: Rs 1,900
  • Up to 3 hm3: Rs 3,300
  • Up to 4 hm3: Rs 3,800
  • Above 4 hm3: Rs 4,200

Non-protected consumers pay a fixed charge of Rs 1,500 up to 1.5 hm3, and Rs 3,000 above that, plus Rs 40 meter rent.

Two things people get wrong here. First, one preceding slab is available to domestic consumers, except for those above 4 hm3, so the whole month is not billed at the top rate you touched. Second, protected status is decided by your winter average, not by this month's usage, which is why a household can sit in the protected band all summer and still be billed as non-protected.

Bulk-metered institutions, hospitals, schools and government offices are on a flat Rs 3,175 per MMBTU with minimum charges of Rs 3,900 a month.

To see what a given consumption does to your total before the bill arrives, use our Sui gas bill calculator, which covers both SSGC and SNGPL slabs.

Paying it, and what happens if you are late

Bills carry a due date and a higher payable-after-due-date amount printed alongside it. That second figure is the late payment surcharge already applied. Paying the lower figure a day late will leave a balance that carries into next month's bill.

Payment channels: any commercial bank counter, the bank's own app or internet banking (utility bill payment, select SSGC, enter the customer number), mobile wallets including JazzCash and Easypaisa, and authorised franchises and payment agents. Keep the transaction reference. Bank confirmations occasionally take 24 to 48 hours to reflect on SSGC's side, and the reference is what resolves a dispute.

Do not let a bill run. Gas disconnection for non-payment is followed by a reconnection charge and, in practice, a wait. SSGC has been disconnecting aggressively: the company reported cutting 3,276 illegal connections across Sindh and Balochistan in a recent enforcement drive.

If the bill looks wrong

A sudden jump usually comes from one of four things: an estimated reading instead of an actual one, a slab crossing in winter, a change from protected to non-protected status, or arrears carried forward from a previous month.

Check the meter reading printed on the bill against the reading on your meter today. If the billed reading is higher than what the meter shows, it was estimated.

To dispute it, call 1199, or file through SSGC's complaint process on the company site, which publishes complaint types alongside estimated resolution timelines. If SSGC does not resolve it, the escalation is the Federal Ombudsman (Wafaqi Mohtasib), whose numbers SSGC lists on its own helpline pages, and SSGC's Grievance Redressal Committee.

Keep the complaint number. Verbal follow-ups without one go nowhere.

If you smell gas, do not treat it as a billing matter. Call 1199 immediately, do not operate electrical switches, and open windows. SSGC runs a separate gas leakage check service.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get an SSGC duplicate bill online?
Go to viewbill.ssgc.com.pk, enter your 10-digit customer number and submit. The bill loads as a PDF you can view, download and print. The printed copy is valid for payment.
Where is the SSGC customer number on the bill?
It is a 10-digit number printed on the upper portion of the bill, above the billing period. It is not the meter serial number. If you do not have an old bill, call 1199 with your CNIC and connection address.
What is the difference between protected and non-protected SSGC consumers?
Protected consumers are those whose average consumption across the four winter months, November to February, is at or below 0.9 hm3. They pay Rs 200 to Rs 350 per MMBTU plus a Rs 600 fixed charge. Everyone else is non-protected, paying Rs 500 to Rs 4,200 per MMBTU plus a Rs 1,500 or Rs 3,000 fixed charge.
What is the SSGC helpline number?
1199, or (021) 9902 1000. For gas leakage call 1199 immediately rather than raising it as a billing issue.
