September slipped almost 10%
The quarterly jump hides a softer month. Car sales in September 2026 were 10,939 units, down from 12,126 in September 2025, a fall of nearly 10%. July and August therefore carried most of the quarter's growth. One month does not make a trend, but it is the number to watch when October figures arrive next month.
Jeeps and pickups went the other way for the whole quarter, down a third, which is the clearest weak spot in the data. Trucks and tractors, which track farm and freight activity, both rose sharply.
Why buyers came back
PAMA Director General Razi-ur-Rahman linked the recovery to easing inflation and a better economic backdrop, Business Recorder reported. He also said carmakers and buyers remain hesitant over big decisions because there is still no clarity on the government's auto policy, and that this uncertainty "continues to dominate the market sentiment."
Lower borrowing costs matter here too: most new cars in Pakistan above the entry level are bought on bank finance, and the monthly instalment moves with KIBOR. You can see the current 1-year KIBOR on our KIBOR page and the policy rate on the SBP policy rate page.
What it means if you are buying a car
- Check today's ex-factory price first. Our car prices in Pakistan list carries makers' official prices with dates, including the latest Honda Civic list.
- Work out the instalment before you visit a dealer. The car loan calculator shows the monthly payment for a given price, down payment and tenure.
- Add registration and token tax. Use the car registration tax calculator and the token tax calculator for the on-road cost.
- Expect delivery times to stretch on popular models when demand rises this fast; ask the dealer for a written delivery date.
Bikes keep growing
Two- and three-wheeler sales, mostly motorcycles, rose 28% to 553,994 units in the quarter. Motorcycles remain the vehicle most Pakistani households actually buy, and current maker prices are on our bike prices page.
